Yep, same here. Both in the top row, in the 3rd and 4th positions. Hard to get those categories correct when there are blanks.
Yep, same spots for me. I was able to complete it anyway, but it took a little guesswork.
You and me both!
Being that the puzzle number isn’t visible until after the puzzle is completed, and that you post “today’s” puzzle the day that for many/most of us is the day before the one you’re posting, can you please say the date of the puzzle you’re using from now on?
Two tiles were missing for me on the computer, but all showed up on the phone app.
When my wife pulled it up on her phone this morning, she could see all the emojis but they were so small she could barely make them out. (I had the same problem but just did the best I could.) She came back to it around lunchtime and suddenly the emojis were huge and plainly visible. So I wonder if they got a lot of complaints early and did a quick fix to make them display better.
Had to go digging for the Connections thread… no posts since April 1!
Today’s question about a clue/category: “Dumbo” is a place in New York City? I got the other three pretty easily but never would have guessed that as the fourth.
Same here. I was quite clueless about this one…got it only by guessing. Once I had this category, the others came relatively easily.
Dumbo is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass
Is this widely known outside of NYC?
ETA spoiler
Not that I’m a cultural expert, but I have read a fair number of books and seen a fair number of movies that take place in NYC, and I’m quite sure I’ve never heard or read this reference.
I’m an idiot
About that 6/12 Spoiler: Dumbo I live near that area and did not get that answer. I only remembered the term after seeing someone define it above because it was parodied on How I Met Your Mother and I saw it in connection to that but I don’t think I ever heard anyone use it in real life.
I made fairly quick work of the other three categories and was left with Manhattan, Wall Street, Chinatown, and Dumbo. the old Sesame Street song “One of these things is not like the others” started running through my head.
Well I know it. Therefore it’s widely known.
BTW, I noticed they made a minor change to Connections in the past week. Previously, if I completed the puzzle on my phone and then went to my computer, I was starting from scratch (though I knew the answers from having solved it already). That was unlike the Spelling Bee, Wordle or the Crossword puzzle. For all of those, I could start them on one computer or my phone and pick up elsewhere. But within a week ago, they did the same thing for Connections, so when I solve it on my phone, it’s solved when I look at it on my computer.
I had a job interview in that section of town about ten years ago. They used the term when I visited. I’d never heard it before, or since (but then I live about eighty miles away). But I had no trouble with the clue today.
I had trouble wrapping my head around that category for a moment because of Chinatown. I kept thinking about the film being set in California. Fortunately, I had guessed the other 3 categories already. And I live an hour away from Dumbo, but have walked along the riverfront, eaten there and attended events there several times.
I am amused by today’s (June 13) one, in that the top row when you load it reads SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON.
