I learned a couple of new words today! (But I didn’t look them up until after I’d finished the puzzle.)

I did okay with Thursday’s game, except I did not figure out Purple. I still don’t know the specifics, so feel free to fill me in.

Funny enough, the longer of the two oddball words showed up in a Youtube video today, completely unrelated to the Connections puzzle – a nice little bit of serendipity. (I had known that word before, but not the other one.)

On Wednesday’s, purple jumped right out at me immediately, and blue felt like it should have been purple. And I also think that blue was inaccurate on one of the words.

I think I’ve got Eugene Levy and Savannah Guthrie, but don’t know the other two.

I figured the connection out,
Orlando Bloom, Austin Butler, Savannah Guthrie and Eugene Levy are who they meant, I think.
But I had to look up Savannah Guthrie because for fuck’s sake, she’s an obscure nobody outside the US.

Thanks everyone. That’s a head scratcher for even the best players.

I knew what they were going for on blue but only was sure of three. Also didn’t get purple.

A little embarrassed I didn’t see the yellow until it was the last one.

My blind spot in knowledge made purple impossible. Never heard of any of those. Fortunately the others were either obvious or pet subjects of mine.

I saw three of the blues right away (you know which three), but couldn’t nail down the fourth. My rationale for purple was ”Hey, Eugene and Orlando are cities! And Guthrie and Butler also look like people’s last names, so I’m going for it.” sometimes that works.

For the Purple, While I didn’t know all the specific people, I guessed they were last names.

It’s Friday! And they’re having fun at the NYT Puzzles section today.

That’s how I got purple, too. The detailed connection, I had no clue of.

And the first thing I saw was three of the four blues, but I only got the last by process of elimination. Though having those three made me a lot more confident of the purple that I was iffy on.

I got a purple first for the puzzle, and that’s exactly the logic I came to. Two of the answers are, to me, completely obscure and not anything I had heard of.

That one totally flumoxed me. I kept thinking of Arlo Guthrie, (showing my age perhaps) and that got me nowhere  obviously.

That was fun. Not hard, though…

I failed. I did think of

Popeye, but after getting the anchor, spinach and pipe I couldn’t figure out the other one. I still see a Roomba, not a cap. Maybe I should have got Goldilocks but I was thinking oatmeal or rice, not porridge.

Today’s was very cute and surprisingly easy for me.

Could have been worse; I also thought of Woody Guthrie.
