Got purple by process of elimination. And a bit of luck not falling for bow as part of a ship. Helps that I’ve been reading a lot of Patrick O’Brien novels where “deck” and “mast” are used as directions as well as physical parts of the ship.

I failed on Thursday, after a few "One Away"s. A red herring is one thing, but I think it’s a dirty trick to include an actual category that five of the words fit into.

That’s actually not at all unusual for Connections. There are games you kind of have to work out more deeply to figure out which word doesn’t fit. Personally, I like misdirects like this, as the game can get a little too easy and automatic at times.

Same here, but when I happen to get purple first I give it a shot. (I didn’t expect purple to actually be purple, despite the category. :grin:)

I guessed right with blue, but the remaining ones seemed equally easy, and I lost the coin toss. In retrospect, the purple category should have given me a hint to the green category, but their color is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of those condiments.

Yep, purple jumped out, indeed. Tried the reverse, but I have such difficulty sussing out yellow from green. I should probably just go with whatever is counter my instinct.
