I also tried COMPACT in yellow, which was foolish because the green category was on my radar already, and I should have cleaned that one up first.

The red herring that almost got me was: SINE, TRIANGLE, SAW, SQUARE — these are all basic waveforms in sound synthesis.

I really should have figured out Monday’s purple, but I didn’t, except by elimination.

And I saw part of the red herring, but couldn’t find any way to quite make it work: I was looking for things that would work with sine, but “___ wave”, “___ function”, and “___ curve” none of them gave enough matches (a “saw wave” is usually called “sawtooth”), and just “mathematical” was too vague.
