Avoided the red herring but after yellow stared at the rest for what felt like forever. Pieced it together one by one.

I selected the red herrings and then thought better of it, as there were just too many options. After a few moments of pondering, I actually came up with all four categories, but was by no means confident that any of them were right.

Somehow, purple was the one I was most sure of, so I tried that first, and then pulled off the reverse rainbow! Quite pleased with myself today.

I don’t care about reverse rainbows. My goal, to the extent I have one beyond simply solving the puzzle, is to solve it as fast as possible. So I lock in each category as soon as I see it, without regard to its probable color. This has resulted in a reverse rainbow on rare occasions, just by coincidence.

I usually agree; getting the boxes out of the way helps me focus on those that remain, so I choose them as I find them.

On this particular puzzle, for some reason, it seemed to work better to “sort” them in my head before submitting. Kind of fun to think a bit differently than I normally do.

Thursday’s puzzle. Oh look, it’s number 900. A clean sweep, though I did not figure out Purple.

Sounding out words aloud paid off on Purple, although there was one false friend there (Files = Tiles). I feel it was a devious one this time.

Well…judged blue as way easier than i was supposed to

Didn’t get purple.

Even after I saw the answer I got three of them but couldn’t figure out what confections rhymed with. Because I am really just that stupid.

This one was tricky, multiple false friends between blue and green. Purple was leftovers again,

Tricky one for me (doing it before bed instead of in the morning is a recipe for that) but made it through. Did not see the purple until I saw the answer and felt dumb for not.

Purple was a bit of a self-promotional category, wasn’t it? I do Connections and Wordle and nothing else. No way in hell I would ever have guessed this.

Friday! There’s a Green answer I do not understand, so it was just leftovers.

Piece of piss today. 30 seconds for the lot.

If you’re talking about the use of worst as a verb, it’s actually a very old usage that’s been revived somewhat.

Had trouble with green today.

Didn’t like worst in their context.

I was the same.

Beat was the only word I have heard used in that context

I was caught up on the same word for the same category. And not knowing that also kept on leading me to “One Away” on purple, because there were five words that fit.

I saw purple right away, but didn’t think it was purple. I as trying for a reverse rainbow, in which I failed spectacularly.
