Saturday’s puzzle took a bit of considering, but I managed it.

It’s okay. Green only had 2% of people finding or selecting it first, which is lower than I think I’ve ever seen a purple, which is usually abound 5-8%

Purple was obvious. Yellow was a lot harder for me than yellows usually are.
I’ve recently started attempting reverse rainbows and I’m apparently not very good at it.

I think it missed giving me a “One Away” notice, which slowed me down a bit. But I got it, and purple was pretty easy today.
Wrong thread
Although I finished it, I had more difficulty with Saturday’s puzzle than many of you. Mostly because I was distracted by two different possible groups, both of which I could find three but not four. Basepall pitchers, and types of sculpture.

I really should have guessed purple, but since they were the last four left, I didn’t give much time to it. I glanced at them, thought ___ UP, and hit submit. No harm done.
Sunday already. Purple had too many layers. Hate those ones.

Purple was easy, as it usually is when they use made-up words like whistleblew - yes, I know it’s actually in the dictionary, but nobody uses it IRL
Blue took a hot second, but got it easily enough. The live-action One Piece is filmed just up the road, as was Black Sails.
Green had the Americanism this time.

Had to intuit the fourth blue, but there weren’t any sensible options left.
I almost got nailed by the red herring but realized something was off until I saw I was missing one for another category that happened to need one of the red herring words.
There were few suspicious words that were purple candidates, and they have a fairly limited set of wordplay tricks they use. (Add a letter, subtract a letter, look at the first few letters of a word, look at the last few, check for homophones are the basic list I run through.) It was CAMEROON in my case that tipped me off, and I also had WHISTLEBLEW in my candidate list which helped me out. LUFFY was also in there, making me wonder if I had it wrong, until I saw COCKATIEL, which also seemed out-of-place with the other words.

A bit of a disaster today.
I was convinced that Luffy had to be a partial word so I kept trying to add letters. Finally couldn’t see anything except the pirates so I ended up googling it.
Never got purple.
I didn’t know what Luffy was, but had a vague notion that it was a fictional character, which was enough to fit it in where it belonged. And I knew right from the start that whistleblew and Cameroon had to be something purple, but the whole category was still just leftovers. I guess I still haven’t gotten used to how to do purple categories yet.
Oh, and I also got herringed.
It’s Monday again. I got a clean sweep, but Blue is really obscure.
