Got impatient. Saw blue right away, but assumed it was purple because of its nature and played it before studying the rest of the board. Lost my RR.

Blue and green were both stupidly easy. I spent quite a while on the second half, however.
I’d guessed yellow’s category, but since there were five possible options I needed to suss out purple before I could finish. After several minutes of free association, I saw it.
To quote Rebecca Black, it’s Friday.

One issue I had is that my foreign language was French, not Spanish, so to me QUE sounds nothing like a letter.
Pretty straightforward once I convinced myself that the too-obvious one was not a red herring.

Purple was the most obvious one by far. Blue took me a moment. Green was surprisingly hard for me this morning, don’t know why.

I didn’t find any obvious. Had to really think each one through.

Had a hard time with this one. Puzzles with almost all one syllable words seem to be my weakness. I had to use leftovers for purple, then a big “D’oh” when the category was revealed. Got my RR though.
It’s Saturday and this was a really tough one, marred by an Americanism and fashion, two subjects I was helpless against.

Saw blue first, figured out purple, hemmed and hawed over which the Connections people will classify into which category and guessed right this time. Also got a bit nervous about green and yellow. Both seemed about equal to me. Completely missed the red herring.
Good job guessing about Dread Pirate Luffy, so well known in the lore of the seas.
IMO this is an example of how ridiculously niche some of these puzzles are getting. It’s not like just having a big vocabulary and lots of general (but not overly specific) knowledge will always see you through.
Thought I had the reverse rainbow, but once again I’m a poor judge of difficulty

I fell for the red herring, and then had trouble steering my brain away from it even knowing it was wrong. Tough go for me on this one.

Failed. Proud of myself for getting blue but completely missed green and purple.
Anyone who doesn’t know One Piece or the Straw Hat Pirate is not just not paying attention to pop culture, but also international politics, I’m afraid. That’s less niche than Jack Sparrow.
Anyway…

Yellow was trivial but I imagine a lot of men struggled with it. Purple was fun. I actually thought Green would have made a good Blue or Purple. Blue was everything I hate (Not just Americanism, but very regional Americanism. About Sportsball.).
For the first time since I started doing this one, I didn’t to get a single category. Looking after, I should probably have got Green, but I struggled to see a single link.
This may have been one of the hardest ones. Never saw the purple and made a dumb mistake with the green even though I knew what it was.

I had no hope on Saturday. There were, like, eight words that I was completely clueless on, so even if I got two categories, I’d still be sunk. I tried picking four that looked like they might be last names, in the hopes that they might have something in common that I was ignorant of, but when that didn’t work I just clicked randomly to see the solution.
