I was vaguely aware of a book called Eloise about a girl living at the Plaza Hotel and reading the Wikipedia article briefly led me to the remaining two items.
Obviously not everybody. Only the people who are wrong.

Who cares whether you think red licorice is licorice?

That is actually the best method.
For anyone who finds the “theme” first lines amusing, the Connections puzzle for tomorrow, November 27 reads RUBBER BABY BUGGY BUMPER. (This is an old tongue twister.)
I suspect that person who created that has some theatre in their background, as it is not only a tongue twister, but a classic theatre vocal/articulation warm-up. Picture 20 high school actors standing in a circle saying that over and over again, each time a little faster
A fairly easy Connections today outside of that amusing placement.
When they get cute like that it’s a little bit of help because you know all four are in a different category (in my limited experience). They should be clever some time and make two of them part of a match.

I have to admit that I did not initially see the linkage between the Purple clues. After I got the other 3 categories and Purple was revealed, it was definitely a ‘DUH’ moment for me.

Ha, that’s me like 50% of the time
That type of group (____________ X can be tricky. I got it today though.
You just need to realize what the various clues have in common; in this case, all are bands of one sort or another.
Yes but what threw me off was that three of them were music related and one wasn’t. I spent some time looking for a fourth type of music group before realizing that it was the ending word
That was the mislead; I was thinking house band for the fourth one.
I’ve come to assume there always one category just for red herrings.
Speaking of red herrings, I bit hard on today’s one (December 3). Quite a challenging one all around.
Yes. There were, I think, four clues that suggested something not quite right.
Wow. Got the yellow and green categories today but have been racking my brain for either of the last two. Any very subtle clues to drop?
Not ignoring you but I can’t think of anything subtle.
One category is meta answers, which is the kind I hate most. The other is names. (Not sure if that one is subtle enough of a hint.)
EDIT: By meta I mean the literal meanings of the words are irrelevant in terms of the category. Like, for example, “words that rhyme.” That’s not the case here but it’s stupid like that.
Okay, the names helped. I was thinking Ayn Rand titles but that didn’t work out past Atlas. The other one I should have got.
