The red herring about the Earth got me and I made a few wild guesses about alcohol containers but I got it.
Possibly the easiest Connections I’ve ever done. I solved it in perfect reverse order, purple to yellow, in about 30 seconds.
Nice! I’m always a little disappointed when they come together that quickly. I got a little sidetracked by the red herring today, but got it green blue yellow purple (and paused to figure out what the category was) with one mistake.
Purple first today! Would never have gotten blue except as a remainder.
I knew Speed as “Spit” - a game of blistering velocity. Spoons is a game where too much focus on the cards leads to a loss
Ah, Spit I know. Spoons is new to me. I used to read cover-to-cover through books like Hoyle’s book of card games and an Oxford compendium for fun but either never saw those games or quickly forgot them. It would definitely be on the Pagat website if it’s still around.
Just did it and had a harder time than usual but just barely got it. Blue was the hardest for me and left for the end. I don’t think I would have gotten it unless it was a leftover. Definitely felt that was the purple clue. Purple was vexing me but turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, so my brain was thinking way more laterally than it needed to.
Good day in Wordle in two (I play by picking a new word every day based on my environment, like what I see or am thinking about. Playing high percentage words every time bores me.) Mini in 0:35. Spelling bee pangram I got in about 40 seconds. (I don’t play beyond the pangram.)
Yellow, purple, green, and then I stared at the last four (blue) for a while trying to figure out the category before finally giving up and just clicking. I should have channeled my 13-year-old self.
There is no way I would ever have gotten purple today. The rest was straightforward
Yeah that was one of those that only made sense in hindsight.
I actually saw the possibility of purple relatively early, but didn’t pull the trigger because 666 is the number of the beast, who is an evil earthly ruler and not the devil. And also because I didn’t think they’d actually go with that.
Hmm, I saw purple right away. In retrospect except for me having encountered three out of four in the last week (and probably not any in years before that) I wouldn’t have seen it.
I object to equating the devil and the beast. Otherwise, it was a typically stupid stupid category. I sussed out red before even starting.
I found today’s puzzle to be easy (got purple first with assistance from Seinfeld, and the rest in short order)
Yes, Seinfeld was helpful.
Just motored through today’s. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
No mistakes, but I took a while overthinking it, since everything but purple just seemed too glaringly obvious.
Can someone please explain the purple category to me?
They are all things that that can be described as having ears. Ears of corn. Musicians have an ear for music, the Walls have Ears, pitcher handles can be called ears.
Thanks.
never knew that about pitchers, and blanked on the walls phrase. For some reason I was thinking about baseball pitchers.
