If You Like "Wordle", Try "Connections"

Big spike for that word in Google Trends today. I inferred its meaning once I figured out we weren’t stabbing anybody. My one mistake was putting ROOSTER in with yellow.

I went down a rabbit of rock-n-roll singers thinking ELVES = ELVIS and DAGGER = JAGGER. No PLANK or FERRY though.

Seemed like a tricky puzzle, so I scribbled down my 3 best guesses on an envelope. That left four weirdo words (the Blue cereal mascots), that I used as my first guess. Worked.

Heh, my mistake was putting PARENS in with Green.

Steve Perry?

It really stuck out – I know the word well enough, but it tends to be informal. I’m not sure why they went for that instead of the normal form. I thought at first it couldn’t be right because of that.

I knew what it was and I thought the connection was things on the top row of the keyboard along with asterisk and numbers but I couldn’t find a fourth and then it hit me.

I had parens in with green for the longest time. I made one wrong guess then got yellow and blue and just guessed the right four for green.

Chuck Berry

Today’s puzzle was…interesting. I had to stare at it for a while before I made my first solve, which was Purple. Then I got Yellow and Blue fairly quickly.

Green was a stretch category, IMO.

I was trying desperately to find four clues that contained something in the kitchen.. Alas.

Dusty Springfield puzzle today. I loved blue.

Today went green, yellow, purple, blue.
Had two issues.

First, I’m really bad at 90s music. It crossed my mind with Iris but I didn’t know the others.
Second, I got hung up on parts of the eye since Rod, Cone, Iris and Lens all made perfect sense. When I guessed and it didn’t say I was one away I knew I was on a completely wrong track.

I got the ice cream one first, then when I started looking for eye parts there were only three, so I didn’t fall for that red herring.

I knew ONE WEEK and CLOSING TIME were songs, but didn’t know the other two.

I don’t know anything about pop music, I only got them correct through guesswork, I couldn’t figure out the Blue or Purple category at all.

I have never heard of any of Blue.

As I pointed out above there were definitely four good answers to the red herring. I’m not sure which one you missed.

Parts of an eye Iris, Lens, Rod and Cone definitely got me today.

I was misled by that red herring.

Summary

Never hear of a perspective called a BENT. A bend yes, but not a bent.

It’s more an inclination than a perspective, I would have said. But maybe the puzzlemaker is of a different bent.
