Ah, missed ithe red herring completely. Was distracted by seeing two of the blues right away. Sometimes, it just depends on what connection you make first.
I got the ice cream group first, which included CONE. Then, when I started looking for eye parts, there were only three of them left.
If I’d noticed the eye parts first, I probably would have fallen for that red herring, too.
Makes sense.
Didn’t do well in Saturday’s. I got blue and yellow, but not the rest. I focused too much on a red herring (blue ribbon, green arrow, purple heart, and red bull) that may not even have been a deliberate inclusion and was just my own phantasm.
Fuck this one. The blue category is flawed. 100%
Arrow was also a dog of the screen. Does anyone remember The Point?
First time in a long time I didn’t get any group though not sure the blue category was flawed.
It is quite common for there to be a group of 5 and you have to find which one is the red herring by finding another group.

Yellow it might be becasue I am from the UK but I don’t associate any of the group with Goddess, I would say Icon and Legend are looked up to in awe but are neutral gender and the other two I haven’t heard in this context at all.
Green, neither I or anyone I know well has tattoos, so didn’t think along these lines, never heard of a ribbon beig associated with a mom tattoo.
Blue, I am not much of a film buff, I get the references to Hooch and Toto but not the other 2 (or three)
Purple, never heard of a rat terrier but feel I should have got the other 3.
Good to know that I wasn’t the only one to have completely struck out today.
I figured out that there was a terrier category but couldn’t find the correct four. Also was convinced there was a Rock Band category, which was obviously flawed reasoning (Heart, Toto, Queen, Boston).
Today’s was tough, but I solved it. I saw the rock bands first, but that just felt like a red herring. I figured ASTRO, HOOCH, and TOTO were dogs, but didn’t know the fourth. I thought HEART and ARROW would be part of a Cupid group. I got yellow first (figured it was something to do with famous performers, so goddess did feel a bit gender-specific. Then I figured out the tattoo. I still didn’t know the dogs, but I figured the other was dog breeds, and BLUE didn’t seem to fit there. I’ve never heard of a BORDER terrier,
First guess today was wrong. I fell for a red herring TOTO, QUEEN, BOSTON, HEART – all bands. Then I saw purple minus one entry never heard of a BORDER terrier, but guessed it right. Then yellow, green, blue. Blue seemed fair to me, though I didn’t know one of the dogs. Who is BLUE? Oh, wait. As I write that, is it Blue’s Clues? Duh. And, yes, quite often there are categories where five answers fit. That’s completely fair and part of the game. Just like today’s red herring for me. That’s totally a valid category. Just not the one the puzzle was looking for.
Go figure. Today’s was an absolute breeze for me.
I saw TOTO AND ASTRO, and immediately filled in the dog category, which means I didn’t catch the rock band red herring.
Then the DIVA synonyms leapt right out, followed quickly by the terriers.
For those griping about the remaining category, consult this image.
Think I just lucked out today as there was no good starting group. TERRIER just jumped out at me from RAT/BOSTON so knocking out purple helped. ARROW/HEART seemed a likely pairing and the image of them fit with the others. Yellow was then pretty obvious and before I revealed blue kind of figured it out a half second before I revealed it.
I didn’t find today’s that hard. I had 3/4 of purple immediately.
Then I kept getting distracted by Toto who was a cairn terrier even though I knew it didn’t fit. So I went for the dogs first, tben got yellow pretty easily and that gave me to final clue for purple.
I guess today’s was a Father’s Day one? I didn’t consider that until later, because our Father’s Day in Australia is in September. Anyways, I found Yellow to be the hardest, which is not normally the way it goes. Purple I didn’t guess the category for, but was what I was left with so, whatever.
I got purple third but that is the type of grouping I have trouble with so surprised I even got it.
Yellow, blue, green, purple, no mistakes, about a minute.
Made three mistakes and thought I would fail but then got all four. I also liked the Simpsons Easter egg today.
Purple jumped out at me first thing today, and the rest fell into place rather easily.
I’m not a big Simpsons fan…care to explain?
I’m missing the Simpsons reference too. And
Same.
I was wondering if anyone else would catch that. In the episode where Homer flies on the Space Shuttle, he is bedevilled, twice, by an inanimate carbon rod.
Good username/post combo.
That is a deep dive.
