I was momentarily sidetracked by HUBBUB, RACKET, and BUSTLE, but gave that up when there was no obvious fourth.
Otherwise, pretty smooth today.
Naturally, the category I latched onto immediately was the
buttocks
one.
I never heard of a
bustle as part of a wedding dress
, but otherwise didn’t have much trouble with today’s puzzle. The purple one was easy.
Friday. Another straightforward one for me, though it had its share of trickiness.

I banged out green, yellow, and blue in short order. Never did figure out purple, and doubt if I ever would have, had I not given up.
I am impressed with anyone who got purple first on that one.
I submitted purple first, by I had no idea what the category was beyond being leftovers of the other three.
Here was my thought process and generally how I approach purple: PEC was obviously an out-of-place word. I assumed from the beginning it was a purple. So what could PEC be? There’s no other anatomy-related word. Adding “S” to it and other words doesn’t help. Could it be the start or ending of a word? Well, it’s unlikely a word ends with PEC, so what starts with PEC? At first I thought of countries and cities, and then I realized PECAN is a word that begins with PEC. Are there any other nuts? Well, we’ve got MAC, which was another suspcious purple-probable word. MACadamia. And HAZElnut and CASHew came quickly after that.
There’s a certain number of common tricks they use for purple, so once you find a candidate purple word, you can run them through your head to try to figure out which one they’re using.
Seems I was right to be impressed.

I realized CONSTRUCTION would have fit only after I’d entered _____ PAPER, so I dodged one bullet. Otherwise, no too tough.
Done in 30 seconds today.
