Today (1/9)'s green category in Connections seems unusually specific.
I figured it had something to do with food or cooking, but who the heck is Samin Nosrat?

Author of a 2017 bestselling cookbook that spawned a Netflix series of the same name.
Yeah, that was the last one I got, and I had no clue as to the connection. Still don’t, actually.
Never heard of her. I guess I should just chalk this up to getting more out of touch as I get older (like being expected to know names of rappers).
Yeah, I was utterly clueless about that one and the sneezing group. Smoke does not make me sneeze; I would never have thought of smoke as part of the sneezing group.
Connections
Puzzle #212
Yeah, I wasn’t familiar with the reference either. That’s okay! There have been others I had no idea about: “second words in vodka drinks” or something like that stands out. We all have our own areas of expertise and areas of ignorance.
But I do think if you have to specify that the connection is in the way some specific person thinks about or formulates the topic, it’s not a particularly good connection.
Today’s (Feb 13) green category is ridiculous.
Since when is mozzarella spherical? I’ve seen it in sticks and blocks and slices and shreds, but I’ve never seen it in a ball. And a jawbreaker isn’t food, it’s candy.
Fresh mozzarella is typically spherical.
I only played today because I saw this thread had been bumped. While I agree with the complaint about mozzarella, my bigger complaint is that it’s not “goad on” it’s just “goad.”
It was the last one I got. And I had no idea what the connection was, except they were the last four clues remaining.
Sometimes I don’t get the category on one of them, which is fine when it’s the last remaining four clues.
I figured out the grocery store category almost immediately, but I couldn’t see snacks, only fish. There is a fish counter at my grocery store, but not a snack aisle. There’s an aisle with cookies, crackers, and chips, and then there’s another aisle with candy, peanuts, granola bars and whatnot. One of them probably is named snacks, but I definitely do not think of snacks as just being in a single aisle.
It was the first category I got.

I had the same problem with Snacks.
It was the next-to-last category I got, after remembering the mozzarella cheeses I’d seen when I lived in Little Italy.
N/m figured out my mistake.
Question about today’s blue category:
Trampoline is an Olympic sport ?Since when? And what the heck is “breaking”?
I guessed trampoline just because that seemed like the kind of obscure sport the Olympics would love. Not that I have any idea what a sport of trampoline would even mean.
But breaking? Seriously? WTF is breaking?
Well, someone had to look it up. It is indeed breakdancing. It’s a newly featured Olympic sport along with tiddlywinks.
Seriously? Tiddlywinks?
