Guessed wrong for my reverse rainbow
What made you pick purple first? And why green over blue?
Trying to get purple, blue, green, and yellow in that order. Called a “reverse rainbow”.

I found this one really difficult.
I was pretty sure it was going to be a word before or after the clue for purple. I made a slight detour for things you might find in a bathroom. Then I’m proud of myself because I set it down and went and did strands, pips etc. When I thought back I cam up with paper clip, immediately got paper tiger and went back to the puzzle to get the other two.
Didn’t get blue.

This is Saturday’s game. I really struggled with this one, and only pulled out of the plunge at the last minute with some lucky guesses. Didn’t help that there was an epic Americanism as one of the categories.

I call BS on yellow.
Since when is RAM a car brand? It’s a type of Ford! I finally had to guess it because nothing else worked.
Didn’t get blue. Not my wheelhouse.

It used to be a Dodge brand, but now it’s its own thing, apparently.
Agreed though, just too much Americanism in this one, across multiple categories.
Also “Dip” is NOT a food the way fries, wings and chips are, it’s a fucking condiment. And fries and chips ARE THE SAME FUCKING THING anyway.
Have to defend the great nation of America here. No way that dip is a condiment. It requires a transfer mechanism sure but it isnt merely a flavour added to adjust a meal.
And like other classic American traditions such as Thanksgiving and school shootings, the fries/chips distinction is widely know throughout the normal world.
Dipping sauce - Wikipedia
Note first sentence.
I tried to edit wikipedia to prove my point but I’m blocked due to doing that in the past. So for debate purposes, imagine it said exaxtly what would refute you.
Thats dipping sauces, dips are food in their own right, as the conduit is mportant and must be compatible but is not the main thing. The dip itself is, hence its status as a food among equals like chips.
Dodge, actually.

Fell for the red herring and am NOT ASHAMED. I only regret I couldn’t choose DODGE twice.
But I agree with the points about RAM and DIP made above.
I struggled.

So what was the Saturday red herring? I didn’t see anything else that looked like it worked…
