If you whine about political correctness, you're a bigot

Whatever you say, pal.

Clearly. Imbecile.
And what the hell is so mystifying about the word ‘tack’ to you, I thought English was your first language. Turns out it’s ‘Moron’.

I’d have to see evidence of reasoning first.

Nigga, of course, has the same arrangement of letters as nigger…:dubious:
And even if it was ‘nigger’, so what? It’s just a slur that’s been taken back, doesn’t make it not a slur.

Once again - ‘lazy Blacks’ is the slur, and it does not have the same ‘arrangement of letters’ as ‘blacks’

And there were actual slurs available for use. No racist would say ‘lazy black’ when ‘lazy kaffir’ was on the table, you ignorant simp.

Sure you don’t, mate, suuure you don’t.

Take you ‘chap’ and shove it up your cactus hole, ‘chum’

Didn’t bother to actually read the thread I linked to? That’s OK. It’s not written in Remedial, I understand. But it’s a bit of cheek to then say I didn’t communicate my intent. I communicated quite clearly that now there are clearly two villages missing their idiots. Who are, of course, complete strangers to each other.

Well, I could also have said “back into your drawer”… I’m thinking that’s just as likely.

No, I think it fits perfectly for wannabe-poet Aspie argumentative ‘chap’ types who seem certain - nay, one may say, designed - to get up the noses of particular sets of posters. You’re an argumentative idiot who jumps into volatile subjects to get a rise out of people. “Troll” fits perfectly well…

You’re not the boss of me, pal.

I think you’re just wrong. Suppose I meet a bunch of racists, and they all use the word “nigger”, but with absolutely clear intonation and surrounding context making it clear that they intend it as an insult. At the same time, I meet plenty of non-racists, and they generally use words like “black” or “african-american”.

Then I meet some guy, and I don’t know if he’s a racist or not, and he says the following, with no particular intonation or inflection:
“Yeah, that’s my friend Bob over there… yeah, wearing the green hat, standing next to the nigger”

I believe that his use of the word nigger, even in an extraordinarily neutral context like that, is evidence (although not proof) that he is a racist. And it encourages me to be more racist around him, because it makes it appear more acceptable and common to be racist.

But honestly, how often do you actually have to do that? I’m 41, and I find it VERY hard to think of any language that I’ve changed in the 20 or so years that I’ve been an adult. It looked for a while like maybe I should stop saying “black” and start saying “African American”, but I have literally never had anyone complain or take offense at my (hopefully non-derogatory) use of “black”. “Gay” is still perfectly acceptable, although “LGBT” has somewhat come into vogue to discuss the larger queer community. The switch away from terms like “secretary” and “stewardess” was already old news when I was in college.

And note the huge difference between situations where some random fringe group disapproves of a term, and situations where society as a whole actually pressures you to stop using that term. Sure some wackos claim that “pets” should be called “animal companions”. But if you’ve actually had people take offense at your use of the word “pet” I’d be shocked.

God we miss George Carlin

Meet Anne Rice, novelist, and apparent bigot. Here’s a somewhat interesting take on PC run amok. Anne Rice - Signing off with thanks to all who have... | Facebook

Seems like an interesting topic and worthy of discussion, although without actual evidence of the types of thing she’s talking about it’s pretty meaningless. Are there examples of male authors who have literally had their careers destroyed because they dared to write about a female character?

Also, is there any evidence that Ms. Rice is not [del]a bugfuck loon[/del] an outlier?

It’s been a while since I read through some of this stuff, but I’m fairly certain you’ll find a male author attacked with the intent of damaging his career, for the crime of writing women, along with any other combination of author/character which might inspire the sort of online righteous social justice presence that gets off on that sort of thing.

Speaking of which…

You show us yours first…

Well, there’s Alexei Panshin horrible career move of writing Rite of Passage.

I… don’t get it. Is there some well-known controversy surrounding that novel?

I’ve never heard of any controversy over Rite of Passage. It’s the best “Heinlein Juvenile” that Heinlein never wrote. (It’s very much in the Heinlein style.)

Panshin wrote a biography of Heinlein, and that was hugely controversial. But Rite of Passage has near-universal regard and admiration in the SF community. It’s a ripping good book.

(Still waiting for The Universal Pantograph…)

On the off-chance anone is seriously interested, here’s a loverly example of Ms. Rice’s hypocrisy in the “people ganging up on authors” arena.

There are other examples of quite arguable bugfuckery. But I’m more than confident in my opinion for the simple, albeit anecdotal, reason that I’ve met the woman.

*‘Punishing Pandora And A Surprising Opinion on Anne Rice” by Miss Articulate is a review by some one who loathed the book so much she cut it to pieces. Comments most welcome.” *

This is goddamned mild as hell…

I think this does once again emphasize how hard it is to decide what is and is not PC. If there’s an internet bully who is internet bullying with motivations that are at least somewhat in line with PC, but there is no actual groundswell of support among the liberal presumably-PC-loving population as a whole for said bullying, does that really count as something to blame on PC? Or just something to blame on a single internet bully being a bully? There are plenty of internet bullies doing approximately the same thing for reasons totally unrelated to PC.

Political correctness is for the weak minded that can NOT handle reality or the TRUTH. Say whatever you know to be TRUTH. Might it “offend” some people? BFD… Long live FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Words, such as “cracker”, “wet back”, “nigger”, “kike”, etc. are just WORDS. When you are told what you can/can not say by ANYONE or ANY GROUP you are being censored. NOBODY has the right to tell you what to say or think. The “politically correct” mask their agenda behind censorship. Their agenda? NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. They are ignorant assclowns.

So, in one sentence, you say that if ANYONE tells you what you can or can’t say, it’s censorship. In the very next sentence, you say nobody has the right to tell other people what to say or think. Which leads me to ask: why do you hate free speech so much?

Basically, free yoga classes offered at the University of Ottawa have been scrapped because of complaints by some students and volunteers about “cultural appropriation”.

According to the instructor:

“I guess it was this cultural appropriation issue because yoga originally comes from India,” she said on Sunday. "I told them, ‘Why don’t we just change the name of the course?’ It’s simple enough, just call it mindful stretching.… We’re not going through the finer points of scripture. We’re talking about basic physical awareness and how to stretch so that you feel good.

“That went back and forth… The higher-ups at the student federation got involved, finally we got an email routed through the student federation basically saying they couldn’t get a French name and nobody wants to do it, so we’re going to cancel it for now.”

So someone volunteers to teach a free course, and this is the outcome, thanks to PC.

Well you must be a bigot! Maybe just a pig stupid racist? I’m not sure what the insult of the day is for your ilk. My copy of SJW Weekly hasn’t arrived yet.

The bottom line is political correctness does have its place, but too many people go overboard with it. Many who complain of PC are just selfish assholes miffed that they cannot have their way, but then you see people complaining about using the word “niggardly” and you just have to shake your head.

No, wait, don’t turn it off! I’ve seen this bit, in a minute he blabs the whole thing and gets arrested!

Put another way, the 1st Amendment only says the police (in most circumstances) can’t arrest you for what you say. It does not mean that nobody can tell you what they think about what you say. It does not even mean that nobody can get in your face and shout you down.
