Ignorance - Or, Who've YOU been porking?

My program held an open house this weekend to show potential students what medical laboratory technology is all about. We had microscope displays, bacteria on blood agar plates, and biochemical analyzers open to show how they work. I spent the day there on Sunday explaining what we do in the lab, and answering questions.

While rearranging the display about blood banking, I overheard two young ladies at one of the microscopes. It was a display of a urethral smear from a patient with gonorrhea, and the large sticker beside it on the bench said “GONORRHEA”. What I overheard:

Girl 1: “Wow, look at this, gonorrhea! That’s so gross!”

Girl 2: “Yeah, that’s why you have to be so careful when you cook pork.”

Maybe ‘cooking the pork’ is a euphemism…

Ya know, I wouldn’t be suprised if in a month all the people on MTV are using the euphemism “cooking the pork.” I think it’s kinda catchy.

Scotcho

Actually, it does remind me of a rather crude joke

(Punchline: “Kermit’s middle finger”)

Maybe she meant *porking * the cook?
