When I saw this happen in the movie, I had to resist the temptation to blurt out:
“Oh my God, he killed Ajax! You bastard!”

I’ve said it before, but it needs to be said again (primarily because nobody appears to have taken any notice the first time):
Use of the proper translation could have resulted in a wonderful film.
All hail bibliophage, bard.
I was a Greek Myth buff back in elementary school, never was much for the Trojan War because that was too much like history S- anyway, just having a vague knowledge of all this, I enjoyed the movie (I did know about & missed Cassandra & Clytemnestra & the real death of Agammemnon). If I’d been more aware of the actual stories, I might have been irritated more, but as such I thought it was a terrific movie standing by itself. (Similar to how Van Helsing was a fun movie for me as long as I totally disconnected it from both the original classic monster novels & even the original Universal films.)
That’s actually a wailing Australian woman named Lisa Gerrard, former vocalist for Dead Can Dance. Pretty much anytime you hear that music, it’s her or someone trying to sound like her. I think she’s pretty awesome.
