Just heard that there is a proposed consumer gasoline strike for next week.
Are you going to strike?
Also heard that the price dropped 25% after the government started investigating why the price is so high.
I’m still not sure if I heard right but I think that a gasoline co executive said that they had to raise prices because too much alcohol was being used.Huh???
Not sure how you could have missed it but the gas prices in the Midwest have made national news. The federal government is even sending subpoenas to gas executives to explain the prices in Illinois. We’re WAY above everywhere else. Wherever I look gas is $2.19/gallon at the CHEAPEST. Seen as high as $2.30 for regular and $2.69 for premium. I don’t blame you though for thinking California was where you get raped over gas. When Illinois surpassed California in gas prices I knew we were getting screwed.
As for the OT what gas strike is that? Haven’t heard myself. Besides, as much as I’d like to support that cause like most people gas isn’t a luxury for me I can do without. I need it to work (no mass transit for me where I currently have to go to).
As for lowering 25% I haven’t seen it. Maybe the gas companies did lower their prices but if so it looks like the station owners are gleefully pocketing the difference.
From what I understand, the price of crude oil dropped (not sure how much), but the price of gas went up. One of the explanations given is that the refining capacity is at its limit, so the amount of refined gasoline available is still low.
As was mentioned, I’ve yet to see any sort of 25% reeduction in gas prices, which should have dropped them to under $2.00 and the cheapest regular fuel I can buy is at $2.08 (average being about $2.20). A few weeks ago, when gas prices here were still at the same level ($2.08 for “cheap gas”), I went down to Indianapolis and found that gas prices for cheap regular was at $1.51. I thought to look at the tax stickers and saw that they weren’t charging less on taxes than we were here, yet gas was a good 60¢ cheaper. And now, Indiana has voted to stop the at-the-pump taxes to lower prices for the time being and Illinois is still home of the nation’s most expensive gasoline. Interesting – but not in a good way.
By the way, I see a consumer strike being worth the same as the “Great American Gas Out!” e-mails sent out around the last two Aprils.
Yes it was an Email thing. The newslady said it will? happen next week.
Gas went down here in SE Iowa about a nickel yesterday. It went down another nickel tuesday.Of course I filled up on monday.
