Anyhoo, have you ever read this book called Angels and Demons by Dan Brown? He just came out with a book called the Da Vinci Code that got great reviews in the NY Times as a thriller with a somewhat higher IQ than most airport trash. So I find myself in a train station with nothing to read and see this earlier book of his - I’m thinkin’ hey, why not check this dude out?

And its all about the Illuminati! We’re talking secret symbols branded into the flesh of an enemy, a plot to blow up Vatican City, a tour through CERN, Yurp’s super-cutting-edge physics research facility. Galileo leading them, Raphael conspiring, tombs exploding - MASS HYSTERIA!

I assume you’ve read the Illuminatus! trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson? Reading that as a teenager immunized me against any interest in the subject in later life.

(Incidentally, what the hell is “Yurp”? Is that supposed to be some hiply semiliterate way to write “Europe”?)
