Ilsa_Lund's Super Tough Trivia.

  1. 343 kittens, 49 cats, 7 wives, and the man. 400 altogether. I notice you changed this from its usual form, which says ‘while I was going TO St. Ives’.

I’m going to guess that #40 is the Bell Curve, maybe?

No.

  1. What group is substituted on Carbon 2 of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, specifically in chitin?
  1. The graph of the function f(x)= (8a[sup]3[/sup])/(x[sup]2[/sup]+4a[sup]2[/sup]) is generally known as what?

I recall from my school maths classes that this is the formula of the curve known, in English at any rate, as the Witch of Agnesi. It was named for an Italian mathematician, Maria Agnesi.

  1. This stems from a mistranslation of which Italian word, originally used to describe the graph?
    [/QUOTE]

I think it was due to a confusion on the part of the Englisher translator between the Italian words la versiera, meaning a twisting curve, and l’avversiera, meaning a she-devil or witch.

Just one… you met the man, not his wives or their cats.
