I'm a (British) Biscuit addict

Its true. I’ll admit it.

Stands up

“Hi, my name is Garius and i am a Rich Tea Fingers addict.”

I can’t help it - i love 'em. They perfectly compliment a cup of tea and keep me going at work - i’ve been known to get through an entire pack a day.

The only problem is that they are getting harder and harder to find these days. Shops just don’t seem to stock them anymore. Up until now, however, i’ve been lucky - the Sainsbury’s Supermarket in Holborn, a mere two minutes from my office, has stocked them.

So at the beginning of every week i have blissfully and happily walked up there and bought four or five packets for me to munch on through the week. If i got low on stock, i would simply nip out and pick up some more.

But…

This morning i discovered that they have decided to stop stocking them. :eek:

I’m devastated. :frowning:

So i’m going to try a long shot here - a very long shot:

Anyone know a place near Holborn that sells Rich Tea Fingers?! Please?! Anyone?!

Oh and if anyone out there has any British Biscuit related questions (yes they are different from American Biscuits) or would like to confess to a similar addiction - feel free to post here.

Jammy Dodgers. Oh, Jammy Dodgers. Love them, oh, so much.

jammy dodgers with the cream filling or just pure jam?

Both. Prefer the cream, though.

garius,
These people know a lot about biccies and may be able to assist you in your quest.

My own personal addiction is for Toffypops.
It’s a good job they don’t sell them in bigger packets!

Ahh, I see that you already knew about their website.
Sorry about that!

Dark Chocolate Digestives!

In no particular order:
Jaffa Cakes
Cadbury Fingers
Plain Chocolate Hob Nobs

Hmm, I think I need to put the kettle on.

Hob Nobs. I’d eat a whole packet in one go. Hence, I never buy them.

jjimm - me too. I’m a weak, weak person.

garius - well I’m way out of touch with what is near or not near Holborn, but as for Rich Tea, Tesco sell them, so does LIDL, and Safeway. Maybe you will just have to make a detour in your commuting once a week to stock up.

btw - am amused by the fact that the second biscuit mentioned in the thread was Jammie Dodgers, as they popped into my mind first as well. Don’t know why - not eaten them for ages, but, of course, I fear they might be on the next shopping list.*

  • which won’t help you one little bit, will it? Oh I am evil sometimes. :slight_smile:

Suddenly wondered - do Gyspy Creams still exist? I seem to recall there was some fuss about changing the name, so as to avoid accusations of insensitivity toward the Roma people, but I am not sure if they are still around at all. Ah well - there is a qust for us all to research. :slight_smile:

I am not a biscuit fan. However, I do know that the Tesco Metro and the Budgens on Tottenham Court both have biscuits. You could get off at Warren Street and walk down TCR and through Bloomsbury to Holborn. There’s a Safeways in Bloomsbury too, IIRC. Nice bit of fresh air in the morning.

And yes, gypsy creams still exist. They’re Richard Whitely’s favourite biscuit. I am so ashamed I know that.

<big-headed moment>

curly chick i was bumming around on b3ta when Nicey first announced the site to the world! :smiley:

</big-headed moment>

Fran - I’ll try the Metro in TCR. I know the one in Covent Garden doesn’t do them though :frowning:

Proper Scottish shortbreads. Mmmm.

<homer>

mmmmmmmmm…shortbread…

</homer>

actually if i’m honest i’m easy when it comes to biscuits. Although i prefer Rich Tea Fingers i’ll pretty much go with anything.

I’m a complete biscuit-slut.

Choccy digestives are fun too.

And Wagon Wheels (though I swear they are much smaller than when I was young! ) :frowning:

ah - I knew I forgot something - Ginger Nuts (and no, dear transatlantic friends, it is not a medical condition)

And guess who has no money today? Oh well, maybe the urge will have passed by tomorrow.

What a brilliant site! Thanks for introducing it to me, garius. Thats the sort of thing the internet was invented for really…

I’m quite a big fan of those Caramel biscuits myself, although i don’t buy them too often because i just eat the whole packet if i do!

Thats the magic of biscuits - you can pick up for less than 40p a packet!
