What about Iced Gems?
Nasty little tiny biscuits about the size of a penny with a swirl of rock hard luminous icing.
Sidekick extroadinaire to Party Rings in the hyperactivity stakes.
Don’t count on it. Jaffa cakes…yummmmm…
bloody iced gems. not only was the icing rock hard but the biscuit was nasty too
anyone for pink wafers?
Iced Gems ming. The biscuit was too sweet, the icing was yucky, and just, eurgh.
But enough sugar in them to turn any well behaved child into the Incredible Hulk.
Oohh… Pink wafers! Now, what are really nice are the Italian hazlenut wafers you get in coffee shops, with a nice cappucino… :drools:
Angua, d’ya mean the tube shaped oned with the praliney stuff in? Available at your local Waitrose or Lidl.
Garius, do the various Tunnock’s varieties count as biscuits? If so, they are my faves along with jam-and-cream types (the best being the one that comes in the Fox’s Assortment, but Happy Faces are an acceptable substitute).
Nah, the one’s I’m on about are foodstuff of the gods. They’re like the pink wafer biscuits, but with vanilla wafers, and hazelnut cream filling, rather like the pink wafers. Looking at the packets, they tend to be called things like Loacker, and appear to be imported from the Continent.
I’m begining to think we here in the Colonies know [Inothing* about a decent cookie.
In the meantime, can someone please pass those Keebler Fudge shopppe peanut butter patties?
Trio - true biscuit or small chocolate bar incorporating biscuit?
Your question pleaes me strangely
there was an ad campaign run here, and maybe there, too, for all I know about Kit Kat
Man AIt was all aouThe scene was really w
Trio - chocolate bar incorporating biscuit. no different from Twix.
Tunnock’s varieties - Just biscuits. But under close survellience for any un-biscuity activity.
Thus I have ruled and thus it will be.
KILL THE HERETIC!
Your question pleases me strangely
There was an ad campaign run here, (and maybe there, too, for all I know) about Kit Kats
The ad was a row between two people as to the exact nature of a Kit Kat
“It’s a biscuit”
“It’s a bar”
“It’s a biscuit”
"It’s a bar
This of course, was usually subsequently acted out by various infantile people I know (ahem) and resulted in all of us getting bashed roughly around the head by said Kit Kats.
Great fun and by far the best way to dispose of Kit Kats, nasty chocolate and whispy bloody wafery things as they are!
Ignore post number one from yours truly, obviously my pc was having a Midget Gem moment.
Sorry about that
Calm down.
Its not the Yanks’ fault that they don’t know what real biscuits are.
That said, my uncle who lives in the States will not eat American “cookies”. He comes over to the UK every few years, and will stock up on proper biscuits.
Then your uncle will be allowed to live when the Revolution comes
Wish me luck guys. I’m about to get the stop-at-every-station Picadilly Line Tube all the way from Holborn to Hounslow East just because i know the Tesco’s there has rich tea fingers. Even though it means an extra twenty minute walk home afterwards.
They better bloody have some in stock!
Good luck!
Oh, and what do you expect, my uncle did live in Europe (Italy I think it was), before emigrating to America, some 25 years ago.
Sigh. Merkin cookies ming compared to the beauties discussed here and by Nicey on his wonderful site. Sigh.
And so do Merkin candy bars. If I lived over there I’d weigh 400 pounds (how much is that in stone?) with even more crap teeth than I have now.
I loves me some Boost, and Topic, and them.
Boost and Topic’s are chocolate bars!!
Iced Gems did indeed ming hugely.
Anyway personal biscuit crisis over - I found some McVities Chocolate Digestives after much hunting. I am currently scoffing them at work and growling at any Brit ex-pat that wanders into my air space with an “Oooo look choccy digestives must have one” look on their face and hand out streched. Which is to be honest all of them - but they are mine!!!
Hope garius found his fingers
two measly bloody packets! i went all the way to hounslow for two frickin packets!
surfice to say i am a cranky garius today.
Iced gems are still available and still almost as yucky - I think the biscuit base is just a little blob of digestive now, rather than that weird dry hollow stuff that they used to have.
Chocolate gems, on the other hand (sometimes seen under the name ‘Yum Tums’) - a little round bead of digestive with a little rosette of milk chocolate on top - are rather nice.
I’m not a huge fan of Rich Tea - they are the lowest common denominator of biscuits IMO.
Custard creams I have been known to devour whole packets of.
Anything sweet and oaty like digestive or hobnob is good.
Fox’s used to make something called ‘SunBreaks’ (maybe they still do, but I can’t find them) - wafer thin, crisp buttery vanilla flavoured melty biscuits, fantastic with ice cream or mousse.
I tried Oreos a couple of years back, but I find the filling too sweet and gloopy.
Not sure we ever got a straight answer to this .
But, man, I’d kill for a packet of Orange Creams.
Seriously. Just tell me who you want rid of.
'Kayy… try again:
