I'm a Democrat, and I'm voting for Trump in the primary. So should you.

I didn’t watch the show and I don’t get the Drumpf joke. Someone changed their surname over a hundred years ago?

You know, I most certainly respect Silver/538’s predictions (though he’s probably gonna take a beating this year with the trend breaking candidates) but he definitely reads as biased and on weaker footing in his commentary. He (rightly) detests Trump and it shows. And I’d love to know when his website switched from a very likely Rubio win in Georgia switched to Trump. Because last I saw he gave Rubio an over 60% chance, now it’s saying final prediction was 88% Trump.

It’s not exactly easy reading this thread when you’ve been working on a better version of the Drumpfinator for Firefox. Personal issues may make it where I don’t get my code published in time.

(It’s better in that it works faster, and tries to make it where you won’t see Trump turn into Drumpf in 90% of cases. It will just look like people wrote Drumpf to begin with. Why? Because I hate that little flash, and there wasn’t another Drumpf plugin when I started.)

The joke is that the name “Trump”, through the guy’s branding, has become associated with a powerful, rich businessman. As much as we laugh, putting the “TRUMP” logo on things does seem to work for a lot of people.

So, to thwart that, he suggests using his older surname which sounds sorta comedic, as if it better describes who he really is. Hence “Drumpf.”

(use of Comic Sans is backwards from last time. I realize it makes more sense to use it on the “silly” name.)

I thought Slacker’s “Drumpf” thing was dumb until I saw Oliver’s rant. Now I understand and while it will possibly get annoying at least there’s a funny reason for it.

I do, outside the South. Sanders ALMOST took Oklahoma, and that’s not exactly New York, y’know.

Okay, so that’s another way mine is better. Mine does not change it in text boxes. It unfortunately will in the WYSIWYG editor mode, because I haven’t found a good way to detect that yet. It’s not a problem in most places.

Changing in text boxes is a problem I remember encountering in many old replacement programs. It can get you banned from some places.

Correction, he did take Oklahoma. The only non-Southern state that Hillary won was Massachusetts, and that only by one or two percentage points.

Heh.

The OP is a fool and playing with fire. This idiot is going to get the Republican nomination and be one step from being the freaking president. Here is a good (and funny) rendition on YouTube from John Oliver on exactly why it’s a bad idea to vote for the Drumpf-ster.

Seriously…bad idea.

Come on. You know better than this.
Warning unavoidable.

In fairness, I think “this idiot” was referring to Trump.

“This idiot” was clearly referring to Truump, fyi.

Yes. It’s sort of like calling you by your mother’s maiden name, as if that means something.

In four pages of thread that I haven’t bothered to read, I’m sure someone else has said this, but a lot depends on what else besides the Presidential nomination is going on in one’s primary.

In Maryland, we’ve got a tight race between Donna Edwards and Chris Van Hollen for the Senate nomination. And while it wouldn’t be a bad thing if Van Hollen won, it would be a pretty terrific thing if Edwards won. I’m gonna use my vote to help put her over the top, and let the GGOP work out its own problems.

Fair point.

I think you are either mis-reading what I said or I wrote it so badly on my iPad that it sparked this confusion. ‘This idiot’ was referring to Trump, not the OP…I don’t think the OP is going to be one step away from being president after all. I do think the OP is foolish, and if you want to ding me for calling him a fool for taking the position in his OP he is then I’ll definitely bow my head and take that, as it might have crossed the line, but just wanted to clarify the post.

I agree that you didn’t call me or anyone here an idiot. I reported you for calling me a fool. (I wouldn’t care BTW if I could fire back; take me on in the Pit if you like.)

Naw…I think it’s a foolish idea and OP (and very, very dangerous), but I shouldn’t have called you a fool. Was a bad choice of phrase and my only defense is I was typing it on my iPad in a hurry and so it didn’t come out as I intended. My apologies and I’ll take my warning.
