Over at the NYT, Upshot reports that “‘Donald Drumpf’ Is Beating Rubio and Cruz for Second in Google Searches”. I declare victory. Justen Wolfers:

And so I’m led to conclude — with my tongue somewhere in the vicinity of my cheek — that Mr. Oliver and his #MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain movement has executed a more successful campaign than either Mr. Rubio or Mr. Cruz.

I say Drumpf is funny, but has a rapidly approaching Sell-by date. Alas.
We could still use a riposte to Trump’s hat. “Make American Sane Again” is heartfelt but lacks something. Surprisingly, the DNC’s “America is Already Great”, is the best so far.
NPR reported this morning that Trump’s massive support in Massachusetts is believed to be partially due to lots of registered democrats switching to republican before the primary. I have to wonder if the majority of that was democrats attempting to sabotage the GOP by voting for Trump.
I disagree with the idea of intentionally sabotaging the other party’s nomination. If I were to vote in a GOP primary, I would vote for the candidate I most wanted to win. Nevertheless, I vastly prefer the idea that the democrats supporting Trump in MA were mostly trying to sink the GOP, rather than them being true believers. The idea that Trump can really sway the swing voters like that makes my blood run cold.
BTW, I’ve been hearing that a number of Democrats are crossing over to vote Rubio in horror at the thought of Drumpf (or Cruz for that matter) winning the nomination. I disagree with helping them put up a more electable nominee who is still pretty bad on the merits, but I understand the impulse. If Kasich had a legitimate shot at the nomination, I might consider flipping around and going that way instead.
But so it may be that my voting for Drumpf is just counteracting those faux Rubio voters and “returning balance to the Force”: i.e., helping it sort out just as it would without our interference.
It’s one thing for you to think you’re cute by using something that is not Trump’s name; it’s another thing entirely to alter the text of your quotes to do so. The article you are quoting from used Trump’s last name, and there is no reason for you to change it.
He’s installed an extension that changes it in every text box and web page he reads. He’ll never know if it actually catches on because in his world it already has.
And even Republicans who claim they won’t ever vote for Trump are likely to be swayed by a general election. “Well, I wasn’t going to vote for him, but then I realized that the Supreme Court was on the line…”
No he’s not. Don’t mistake Hillary picking up Deep South democrats as evidence of a national sweep by her. Bernie picked up three out of four swing states. He’s hanging in there. Might yet be the Demcratic candidate.
Indeed it was, and as I noted earlier, Oliver has a solid record of getting his fans to actually *do *stuff.
Speaking of funny comedic assaults, here’s one that underlines why I’m doing my little part to try to shore up Drumpf’s political fortunes, which 538 feels are slightly flagging after last night.
