This is a completely ubabashed, gluttonous “Look at me!” thread. Sorry.
As of eleven AM this morning, I have gainful employment, working at a Subway nearby, providing food to the Masses in the Mall. As of about noon today, I finally scrapped together some courage and submitted a few short stories and essays I’ve written to various places that could lead to publication. As of about seven PM this evening, I will be a high school graduate. The moment I turn that tassel, I will be leaving twelve years and several tons of emotional baggage behind in the public school system, and seperating it from myself. Despite many people assuming otherwise, I have made it successfully through elementary school, middle school, and now high school. I’m quite proud of myself.
Oh, but it’s true. I found out the hard way last year - when you hit 25 it’s all downhill. The only brightside to look forward to is reductions in car insurance!
Congrats NinjaChick, and be sure to have fun wherever life takes you from here. Oh, and as a former Sandwhich Artist, remember, when the roast beef turns green, stop serving it!
The reduction in Car Insurance is just the beginning of the good things that await you! If you apply even the minimal amount of effort to your life, it just gets better and better! I’m even tempted to say that life doesn’t truly begin until you hit 30. . .
. . . what’s that? Is it time for my meds already? Okay, just let me finish this post first . . .
Congratulations! Except for all that pesky studying and classes, college is a blast. Not that I’d ever go back, mind you, but be sure to enjoy it.
[slight hijack]I’ve heard many people say that the best years of their lives are their 30s, for several reasons. You’re often at a good place in your job, so you’re making good money. You’ve probably married or in a serious relationship, so you’re out of the stressful dating scene. You’ve started a family, if you’re so inclined. You’ve been able to purchase some of those nifty big items, like a house and a new car. In my case, I spend more time on my hobbies than I ever did in high school or college, and I don’t have that “I should be studying” nagging feeling in the back of my head all the time.[/slight hijack]
