Ella Marie was born just before 6 a.m. today in Raleigh, NC. Her mother and father (my son) are both doing well. Ella weighed in at 6 lb, 5 oz, 19" with a full head of dark hair. She is the second most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.
Alas, Razorette and I won’t be able to actually meet little Ella until May 10 (I’m in graduate school, my wife works for a junior college, we have to wait until the end of the semester) but until then there will be plenty of photos, I’m sure.
I will call her Fastbreak for a couple of reasons. For one, she was about two weeks early. But more to the point, her mother, Molly, played basketball in high school and her athleticism resulted in a few memorable fast breaks. She’s a very impressive young lady.
Coincidentally, my son’s birthday was yesterday, so I guess the DIL is off the hook for his birthday present for the rest of her life! Razorette and I are on Cloud Nine, and I’m not even too sure where that is!
What a sweetheart!!! A little peanut. Congratulations, and you have my permission to spoil her rotten. How far away do they live from you? Garsh, that picture brought tears to my eyes!
We’re in Colorado. Fortunately, American Airlines just this last year started direct flights from Denver to Raleigh. May 10th, we’re wingin’ our way eastward!
Probably “Dude!” No, she’ll probably call me Grandpa. Frankly, I don’t care what she calls me, as long as she lets me read “Polar Express” to her at Christmas.
I think you’ll find, if this is your first grandbaby, that your parenting bone will dissolve. My father fed my children cupcakes for breakfast while they were visiting. Cupcakes! I never had cupcakes for breakfast *grumble grumble…
