I'm ashamed of you people

What’s so surprising about that? He’s always struck me as a cheerful, upbeat sort of person.

What?

Well, I’ve got to question your lumping the Unabomber and Tomothy McVeigh in with Al Queda, as the issues over which they felt compelled to resort to violence were very different, but are the events in the rest of your list all that much different from each other? I see mostly bombings, with only the method of construction and delivery being different. I could agree that maybe the same group doesn’t like pulling the same thing twice in a row, but even ‘Al Queda’ seems to be more a loose association of like-minded indivduals than SPECTRE come to lfe.

The Madrid train bombings were clearly modeled on a series of similar outrages carried out on suburban trains in Paris by an Algerian group in the mid-'90s. The WTC and Pentagon attacks, using commercial jets as missiles, were modeled on a failed attempt in France by that same Algerian group around the same time. Given the attention given ever-so-picturesque WTC/Pentagon attacks, the only thing likely preventing a similar outrage is probably an inability to overcome current security screening systems and the knowledge that passengers will likely fight back unless some means can be found to neutralize them. I’m sure lots of groups would otherwise love to have something like that on their resume.

But enough of, the, er, hijack. This is way off-topic. I don’t want Clothahump to think we might be ignoring anything he has to say.

Again, I was concentrating on the attacks in the continental US. If we weren’t separated from the Middle East by a sea and a large ocean, we’d be seeing the same sort of thing going on in Israel. We’re not, so terrorists that strike here generally try to pull off large-scale events that disrupt our way of life instead of the smaller-scale bombings that are closer to their base(s) of operations.

I was just thinking yesterday about how it it really gets me how truly elitist some liberals can be. Oh, there are jerks, drunks, egotists, fools on both sides, but I’ve never heard a conservative imply that the only reason the other side got elected is because the common man is straight up an idiot. There is a distinct implication sometimes from some liberals that things would be better if “the people” couldn’t vote. If only the people who know better could decide what happened to the people, the rifraff people would be better off.

This is one of those times.

GuyA: You people are a bunch of half-crazed visigoths!
GuyB: Nu-uh! You guys are!

GeniusC: See, guy B’s point just shows what an elitist prick his side is!

Any other impressive reasoning you’d like to show us, Mister Spock?

What a befuddling choice of quotes you’ve made there. Clothahump talks about “the barbarians,” Der Trihs implies that Republicans are idiots, but only liberals are elitist? You’ve got some interesting damage happening.

Does this mean you’re gay?

Whowouldathunk?

I take it you slept through the Clinton years.

Not to mention, it’s not the liberals who think they are Chosen by God to lead the country.

I refuse to be either baited or crushed by these pithy replies.

I am not mounting a defense of Bush or all Republicans. I am however pointing out that there is a fundamental disconnect in the trust of the common people at the fringes of the political divide. You can deny it all you want, it’s a free country.

Yeepers… a campaign built on soundbytes, untruths, half-truths, and fear mongering clearly shows that the Bush Regime didn’t lack any trust in the ‘common man’. No… not at all.

And those Rove sponsored scare warnings that Democrats were going to ban the bible? That’s just good old down home lying. And lying to someone to scare them into voting certainly shows lots of respect.

Would you care to reply to anybody who noted that your statement was ridiculous?

Exactly! When Republicans lie to the common people and have millionaires pretend to be just like them, that’s a sign of deep respect and trust. There are a lot of ways to look down on people, and if you think liberals and Der Trihs are using the only one, you’re an idiot.

Ah well, I guess I’ll retracting my laughter then.
