A Letter of Counseling means that you stepped right up to the very edge of danger and escaped. A Letter of Reprimand has some severe consequences and is permanently on your record, and an Article 15 costs you stripes.

So, now that I have a chance to really sit down here and talk, I spent 55 days in a very austere location. Just about the time they started to bring everything together, they started to rip it down. We were eating MREs and wearing goggles for the duststorms. It was wonderful for tempers, too, as evidenced by my LOC.

Anyway, it’s good to just go to the bathroom and take a shower without having to walk a quarter mile to do it. And it’s good to be home with my wife (who I missed dearly) and my son (who I didn’t even recognize at first, he’d changed so much).

Still, I think in all probability I’ll have to go back out before too long. I’m hoping that won’t be necessary, but we’ll see.
