Hello everyone . . . it’s the poster formerly known as Sylence, back under a new name.

Why did I leave? It’s a long story. The short version goes like this:

I was kidnapped by aliens for use as breeding stock but they forgot to turn off my cell phone during takeoff and we crashed in Nepal where I was nursed back to health by some Sherpas and once my strength returned I took time out to climb Mount Everest but a storm came up and I had to be rescued by a group of Russian climbers who were kind enough to let me hitch a ride with them back to Leningrad where I made a valiant effort to help rescue the crew of the Kurst because I felt indebted to them, only to have the minisub captured by a giant squid I had to fight off with a toothpick and cocktail sauce after which I washed up on the English shore just in time to be a guest of honor at the Queen Mother’s birthday (some time travelling was involved here, but I won’t go into that) then finally I got a flight back to the United States only to have it go down mysteriously in the Bermuda Triangle so I was forced to swim the rest of the way while fighting off sharks and I finally got to Florida just in time to stop the mad scientist’s giant mosquito horde so the rest of my time was spent hiking cross-country and fighting off the Viking invasion with my deadly oriental yo-yo skills.

Boring summer, huh?

Oh, and somewhere along the way I forgot my password for “Sylence”. I think it was after the brain-washing at the hands of the KGB. So if Sylence starts posting again it’s not me, it’s some imposter spy wanting to kidnap our best minds for use in underground Communist think tank experiments. Maybe the mods should delete that username now . . .

Anyway, I’m back, and I decided to be “Zilch” because that’s all I’ve managed to contribute to this board over the course of 700+ posts. Plus I’m studying to be a math major and I like round numbers. ducks thrown tomatoes Nice to be back, y’all . . .

P.S. The real story is that I had some family problems, about which I might vent in the Pit later, but right now all is well. :slight_smile:

Mainly because they leave scars and get infected.
But, it is no longer called Leningrad. It is St Petersburg.
Also, IIRC correctly Officially the KGB changed their name.

hence your “while” kills ya.
Otherwise it sounds like a much more entertaining summer than mine.:wink:

It would be a very amusing story except that this is NOT the way you handle this sort of problem on the board.

There’s process in place for when you misplace or forget your password.

There’s even a way to go about it if you want to change your user name.

And it’s not like your friendly neighborhood board personnel aren’t available for you to help solve these sorts of problems. You’ve been one of our Teeming Millions since March 1999, you know better.

Just running out and getting a second user name – and STILL not bothering to contact a moderator or an administrator – is a violation of the registration agreement. To quote from that agreement:
