I don’t have caller ID, but thanks.
If/when I get my own phone, at least then I’ll know what calls are for me.

Well, what a bummer. Went to see the hand surgeon for my lumpy hands today, and I haveDupuytren’s Disease. I have 2 strikes for it: I’m of Scandinavian descent, and I’m diabetic. No cure, and without surgical intervention in the future, I’ll develop claw fingers where the tendons are involved. Getting old sucks.
In much better news, my aunt gave me the recipes for my two favorite Swedish Christmas cookies. I may even share them with the blawg. ;)![]()
mrTao must make more for you. So I have spoken, so shall it be. ![]()
That was the vintage for the fridge, not the ice cream.
Normally ice cream has the half life of Francium in her freezer. One of these days I’ll post her recipe for hot fudge sauce
Careful, those were FIL v.1.0’s last words.
Back in the 80s when Frusen Gladje was being made, a container of that had a life expectancy of about 2 hours from the time the cashier put it in the grocery bag. On more than one occasion, it was gone by the time I finished putting away my groceries.
       is right!
Is his face on backwards?
Ain’t got enough on top to lose that much on the sides.

I must relate a small story…
I had to explain what a mullet was to a person who only spoke Spanish. I explained (patting the top of my head) trabajo aqui, (patting back of my head) fiesta aqui. Took about five seconds then he just fell out laughing.
Just thought I should share
Jim
Well that stinks. Though that wiki article indicates they’ve come up with a lot of different ways to beat the fascia into submission. At least the surgeons and doctors are being creative.
In the meantime, I demand cookie recipes!
I’m wondering if I should share my favourite cookie recipes here or somewhere.
Good Spanish description of a mullet Jim!
That haircut is just ummm… well… yeah.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
BBBobbio that just sucks. The doc discussin’ any treatment options with ya? Cookie recipes must be shared.
Tao, Nettie has spoken and I concur. Mr. Tao must make ribs for you.
I have had a nap and now it be chill time. As I said earlier any desire for dindin shall be satisfied by foragin’. I’s still stuffded!
Midget as I stated earlier, all cookie recipes must be shared. It’s a rule cause I just made it up.
Speakin’ of cookies, MOOOOOOM aren’t you supposed to be bakin’?
I’ll be baking on Sunday, or possibly tomorrow, if I don’t have to drive to my mom’s…
Daughter just called. In the county where she teaches, there are 3 elementary schools, and one each middle and high school. Today, there was a bomb threat at the high school. There have also been rumors of “something” possibly planned for the end of the world next Friday. She said the superintendent may cancel school, but no one will know till Thursday night, or possibly Friday morning. I’m guessing this isn’t the only school district that’s considering such a thing.
Idiots - the world is full of idiots!
Last load of laundry for today is in the dryer. **FCD **is sleeping. It’s dark out. That’s all I’ve got for now.
Afternoon.
So so sad on CT today. Those poor kiddos. If you have them hug yours tonight
mr ems has made it to TX for his early Christmas with his kiddos. They then go to Michigan with their Mom & step-Dad for Christmas.
I am officially on vacation
and I need to pack :D. Cab booked for tomorrow to take me to the airport and then I am outta here!
I am torn on what to have for dinner…order pizza or I have some butternut squash ravioli in the freezer. Hmmmm
Happy Weekend everyone!
The name implies that these are gingersnaps, but the way my family makes them, there’s not a lick of ginger in them. Cassia buds are the immature seeds of the cinnamon tree. I had to order them from a company called Spice America, you won’t find them in the usual suspect grocery stores.
Swedish Peparkorkar
3 sticks butter, softened
1 c sweet cream
3 c brown sugar
2 eggs
7 heaping teaspoons ground cassia buds
2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon
1 t nutmeg
1 t ground cloves
1 t salt
4-5 t baking powder
6 c flour
pecan pieces/halves
You will need to grind the cassia buds before use. A coffee grinder works well as does a blender. A pepper grinder works but takes too long.
Reserve the flour and cream until everything else is mixed, then add the flour about a cup at a time, and small amounts of the cream. When all mixed, let the dough rest overnight before baking. Roll out on a floured surface, and cut with your favorite cookie cutters. Add a pecan half to the middle of each one, and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes. These cookies should be more hard than soft, and of a uniform color when done; I personally like them with a bit of a soft give. Also, despite all the baking powder, they do not rise very well, so you didn’t goof on that part.
I went to Ginos, it was good.
Have to go to irk at 6. Some days I’m just not in the mood.
I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon on the 2nd, and then some more on the 8th. Everything has arrived except the one thing I really really really want that I ordered on the 2nd.
Sah-kid tried on all his clothes and they fit so now I can wrap them up and put them under the tree.
From Santa of course.
I feel like I’m cheating if I give him clothes for Christmas but the kid is so hard to shop for. He never wants anything, as long as he has his computer, he’s happy.
I’m kind of proud of him so I have to share.
My son is very very shy. He’s been through some crap in his life and it made him even less social.
A while back he became friends with the daughter of a woman I worked with and they hung out quite a bit. Then she just kind of dropped out of sight. I know some of what was going on, her parents were separating and well there is more to it than that.
Anyway, my son started talking about her and looked her up on Facebook and finally got up his courage and contacted her. I told him, you’re the man it’s up to you to make the first move, that’s the way it is so get used to it. I said the worst she can do is ignore you and then you know not to bother her again but until you do you won’t know. She was happy to hear from him and they are talking and having some fun, making plans to see each other.
I know it’s a small thing, but for someone so shy it was a huge step.
Good for him! (How old is he again? I can never keep everyone sorted out.)
Just when I thought the events in Connecticut were well outside of my sphere of existence, I find that a friend grew up in Newton and his mother is on the board of education there.
Is there a name for the phenomenon where regardless of how distant from your life an event may seem, there’s someone in your life that is intimately associated with it? Sort of like the “six degrees of Kevin Bacon” thing.
News of Mom… She took a distinct turn for the worse. From what I know, it’s based on either an accidental overdose or just the wrong med for her physiology, but now she sounds awful and was a bit out of it for a while, to the point she thought today was Sunday. Meds have been adjusted, so I’m hoping things clear up quickly. IIRC, she’s allergic to penicillin and codeine, and post-op, she was undoubtedly on some sort of -cillin and more pain meds than not seem to be related to codeine.
