I had a little nap today,no more than an hour or two at the most and here I am at nearly 3 AM wide awake. I am considering just getting up and going to irk stupid early or taking a sleep aid. Decisions, decisions.
For the record Menopause sucks!

First!
But for different reasons (that suck even more)
Awoke to a white yard - we got maybe an inch of snow overnight, altho the roads were all just wet. My commute is mostly down dark country roads, so catching the snowflakes in the headlights makes it look like I’m going warp speed!
I saw on the news this morning that this past weekend, the ACLU got over $24 million in donations. A wee bit of that was from me - first time ever I felt the need to give. I may not know how to fight President Idiot, but I’ll give to those who seem to have the smarts to take him on!
Other than that, just another Moanday. I need to stop one day this week and pick up some cat kibbles - I emptied their bucket into their feeder on Sat. Can’t have the cats running out of food - they’ll try to eat my face!!!
Happy Moanday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 36 Amurrkin out and clear (OK, it’s dark still but I’ll take TWPTB word for it that it’s clear) with a predicted high of 61 and N.O.S. for the day. Temps will be warmin’ up durin’ the day this week. I should work on spiffin’ da cave today which I probably will. I also need to do some errands and should begin to at least consider doin’ taxes I reckon. I foresee some liberry time as well. Dindin shall be leftovers from yestiddy as there’s enough for one more meal.
I slept pretty well last night. I woke up once to answer the call of nature. I consider that a win.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should begin the day. Purtification and errand runnin’ shall be the start. Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
Oh yeah, taxes. I’m waiting for the W2 from the job I quit in March, then I can get my taxes done. I honestly have no idea if we’ll have to pay or we’ll get a refund since our income situation was so bizarro last year. We shall see…
Good mornin’
Getting ready to go to work in about half an hour. I’m at an earlier building today which is nice, I should be home about a half hour earlier. I’ve been tired even though I’ve been sleeping and getting to bed earlier than usual on workdays. Oh well, nice and easy dinner tonight, no peek chicken. I haven’t made it in ages, I’m looking forward to it. Enjoy the day!
Morning!
I grew a wild hair last night and figured I’d join you all in one of these MMPs for the first time.
Been working all night. shift ends in another 45min. Ready to get home, feed the critters and go straight to bed.
Afternoon, mumpers! Busy weekend over here, and a busy week to come. Tonight I am off to see my favouritest band in the entire world 'cos they’re playing somewhere local…and I have to hang around afterwards to pick up a CD from the guitarist so I get to be groupie for a while!
Had a team meeting today in which we broke the news that troublesome irker is moving at the end of the week. It didn’t go down as badly as we’d expected so that was good, and the person voted most likely to freak out took it quite well.
More meetings this afternoon, thus more meeting notes to write. The joy.
Happy Moonday!
I managed to sleep through the night until just after 6. I wanted to sleep until 8 but this is better than waking in the middle of the night.
Butters - I feel your pain.
It’s a nippy 29 degrees outside. It’s supposed to be cloudy but it’s still too dark to tell.
It’s going to be a rough day? week? for Adam because no more treats. Now when he begs for treats, I offer him cat food.
He’s not amused.
Nothing special for today. SSDD as always.
The heating in my house finally got fixed on Friday, so of course the weather is finally getting better. Not that I mind, it’s nice being able to walk around the house without dressing up as a Mumu Mummy.
Welcome Growl! That’s your nickname at least for now. Use a coaster when MOOOOOOM’s around.
Not sleeping last night seems to be an epidemic of some sort. I blame the dogs for taking up the whole bed, but it’s probably somehow my fault.
Me too! I missed the protest at our very small but still kinda international airport yesterday because of my own laziness and the desperate need to sanitize my kitchen, but I know I did something.
Welcome! Don’t let them scare you about the initiation. It only hurts for a second.
I gave my notice on Friday because I finally hit that point where I just can’t do it anymore. This was a transitional job to keep me employed while I bought a house and got settled in a new state, and I’ve been here almost two years now. I was actually just pleasantly surprised when my boss told me they’d be sorry to see me go - that is never the impression he’s given me, but I told him I’d be happy to help train someone new before I left, and it’s better to go in January when we’re so slow I’m practically working part-time than in July, when I don’t even have time to drink my coffee most days. I’ve got a few leads on new stuff, and I’ll start temping as soon as I leave to keep my resume full. But sending the notice felt so good, I can’t believe that it was a mistake.
I think all y’all’s sleep has been over at my house. I overslept again this morning.
There was a dusting of snow last night, but the banshees swept it all away by dawn. Not complaining.
The long-awaited W-2’s come in today. Must remember to get all my tax stuff together so I can get that taken care of soonest. Getting my taxes done is the first step towards head gasket replacement.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s a balmy 30 degrees(Amurikin) this morning. I’m working closing shift.
Welcome, Growl!
Drae, I missed the local protest, too. But I sent money to the ACLU. “Cry Havoc! And let loose the dogs of law!”
After you wake up, can I hire you to growl at my boss?
She thinks I’m not sweet enough. Where in my job specs is glucose listed?
Slept in till after 8am today. Sooner or later I’m going to get the hang of this retirement stuff…
About 41F going up to the mid-50’s and the rest of the week looks similar, with rain for the latter half (we’ll see).
Welcome Growl, hope you stick around, it’s a pretty convivial bunch here.
I used to belong to the ACLU and Americans United, but I got so many solicitations by mail and e-mail to give more that I gave them up…is there a way to donate anonymously?
Some supplemental shopping and maybe start learning about Windows (not the computer, the kind that go in your house).
Also need to starting winnowing my car choices, I’m down to the Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Dodge Durango. Any MMP’ers got an opinion on any of them?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas -------- in other words it snowed overnight. The roads are just wet but the grass and trees have a nice 1 inch coat that actually looks really nice. Starting to consider lunch/dinner and thinking some sort of soup with some of the leftover noodles.
I have never actually driven any of those, but I can tell you that my very first car was a Hyundai back when they were just beginning to sell in the US, and he was a dependable little sucker. I used up two engines and three transmissions because I didn’t understand the value of oil changes, but he always got me where I needed to go and I drove him right into the ground.
I had two Honda SUV-ish things (A CR-V and an Element), and I loved them both. No problems at all until at least 100K miles, then things slowly start to fall apart. But both great cars until then.
YM (quite literally) MV.
My Hyundai is a Sonata. We’ve had it 5 years and it’s about to hit 120K miles with nary a problem. We take it in every 5K miles for service and I fully expect to get 200K miles out of it at the very least. Assuming it’s representative of the company’s quality, I’d vote for the Santa Fe. That’s as close as I can get to a recommendation.
Lunch!!
I’ve finished the models my boss wanted me to build. Next up is a pile of red-lined drawings that need to be revised and sent to the customer. Very productive for a Moanday. The snow has stopped and it’s just wet and icky looking out there - cold, too, if the weather site is to be believed. But, you know, winter…
Welcome!
Do not loan money to Dogbutt, and you’ll do fine.
