I'm eating bacon!

I was doing alright up until this point.
Someone please set me an appointment with a parammedic & a defibrulator, I’m goin’ in!

Yes, buying less than a serving never made sense to me.

Paging Airman Doors!

There’s a guy who likes his bacon more rare than most people.

OMG! That sounds Sooo good. It’s still two hours till lunch and my stomach is already growling!

In my family our tradition on holiday mornings and family get togethers is ‘Rum Shots’.

Take a shot glass, fill it 3/4 with Rum, pour in a dribble of real maple syrup, down the shot, and follow it with a bacon chaser! Thick cut bacon, mostly crispy but not totaly dried out.

In fact I had a cousin get married and their wedding toast, right after the ceremony was that very thing. Waiters came around with trays of bacon and shot glasses of rum and maple syrup. Once we did the shot, we got to keep the glass and it had their initials and the date of their wedding on the shot glass. (Oh, and their wedding took place on the beach at St Thomas Island!)

mmmmm… bacon.

I got a hankerin’ for a turkey & bacon sarnie with cheddar, lettuce & mayo. Or maybe Miracle Whip. No, mayo. I hate having to make life changing decisions…

Cooking bacon is a sin. Raw bacon is among the best, most flavorful foods on Earth. There’s no meat on the planet that can be made to taste better by cooking it.

Fine, dear. When you get trichinosis, I’ll be sure to visit you in the hospital.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I even smelled bacon. No particular desire to change that, either. It’s what you get when you grow up as a vegetarian in a Jewish household.

Mmmm, bacon.
A friend and I were talking a few weeks ago about what foods go with bacon. We concluded that EVERYTHING goes with bacon. Not that you would want to eat bacon and bananas, but you could do it. Bacon and peanut butter? Yep. Bacon and pickles? Sure. Bacon and cream? Oh yeah!

We did come up with a combination that wouldn’t work, but decided it didn’t count because Altoids are not really food.

A what? Is that some kind of mutant sandwich?

Sorry… sarnie = hubby’s British word for sandwich

If I’d said turkey & bacon “buttie” you probably would have been more confused.
While we’re talking all about bacon, have any of you 'Merkins had the pleasure of eating British/Irish style back bacon? Now that stuff is truly heavenly. More meat, with just a thin rind of fat. I’m thinking I need to try curing a whole pork loin just to have a steady supply. Anybody know a thing about meat curing?

Here’s what back bacon looks like. I would rather cure my own pork loin than pay 8 bucks a pound!

I was going to eat something sane today for lunch, but I discovered that I had run out of bread.

Instead, I ate bacon. What a world.

MMMMMMmmmmmmm…Bacon.

I toss in half the package and let it cook for a few minutes, then once those strips have shrunk and there is room, I add more bacon. This gives me crispy pieces AND slightly cooked pieces. Then I fry two eggs in the grease. Then I mound the plate with everything and pour about two tablespoons of Tabasco on the eggs.

God I love the Atkins diet.
