I'm eating Ramen noodles out of a teapot.....

…because I forgot to bring bowls. Again. Twice I have been home to pick up things I forgot to bring to my dorm room. I managed to remember my iron and ironing board, the extra hangers, the eating utensils, the extra sheets… but not the goddamn bowls. I have nothing to eat out of except a teapot. It has a nice wide mouth, so sticking a fork or spoon inside isn’t a problem. It’s just weird…

Ever forgotten anything so essential and obvious [and not just to the dorm], and what did you do?

I expect this thread to die [as all mine do] but I just had to share this rather amusing predicament I got myself into.

[sub]Makes me wonder what else I may have forgotten…

If it’s any consolation, I forgot to bring clothes hangers not just once but twice, when I moved back to school my freshman year.

Hell, I can beat that.

I once forgot to bring a towel to college.

Sometimes I am very very very glad I live not quite half an hour from school.

That’s only a problem if you wear only a towel to the shower. If you wear shorts and a T, you can drip-dry.

All the same, I’d prolly forget my Tv before I forgot towels.

I’ve actually forgotten my bathing suit on a beach vacation once. How stupid is that? My family laughed at me until they were on the floor curled up with aching sides. I laughed at myself too. But hey, I improvised, I went swimming in my clothes…

When I moved in to my dorm two weeks ago, my kitchen equipment consisted of the sink, microwave and fridge that came with the room, a loaf of bread, a jar of strawberry jelly, a half gallon of milk, and a Swiss Army knife. I ate nothing but jelly sandwiches for five days, after which point the package containing my dishes finally reached my campus mailbox (Mom’d sent them from home in New York).

Except if it’s 40 degrees in your building:)

BRB.

it’s scary how timely this thread is.

I’m packing tonight (I’ve been home all week, and just haven’t wanted to pack) and leaving to go back to school tomorrow. Now, I go to school eight hours away, so forgetting something just isn’t an option.

No, I haven’t made a list. I’m relying on previous experience … We’ll see how well I do. (Yes, I do have towels. And dishes. And my passport. I think I might even have tossed some clothes in…)

Palmyra, doesn’t your dorm have a cafeteria? Go “borrow” a bowl for a while  My husband had quite a collection for a time…he returned most of it, but there’s a spoon in the drawer that looks suspiciously institutional.

My first roommate forgot hangers. I had to direct her family to Target.

Oh there’s a cafeteria alright… but they haven’t been putting out REAL bowls yet [curious]… Besides, whe I’m making noodles at 9pm, the cafeteria isn’t much help
