I'm going to be in a movie!

There’s a movie shooting here in Dallas all this month called “In the Land of Fireworks.” The production company did a lot of its casting via website (http://www.inthelandoffireworks.com]), Craigslist, Facebook, etc. I found out about it too late to audition for any of the featured roles, but I signed up to be an extra (unpaid – I’m doing it for the experience). My first day of shooting is tomorrow afternoon!

They’re still looking for extras and have a variety of shoots over the next several weeks, so if you’re in the Dallas area and have the time and inclination, you can go to the above website and look at the dates and times.

Been there done that.

When I was living in Ocean Beach I was walking from my apartment to a local restaurant. They had one streets barricaded off that I needed to get by. At the time, I just thought they were getting ready for some kind of parade. So I looked both ways down the street, didn’t see anything going on, so I went around the barricade and proceeded to cross the street.

As soon as I did, some guy starts yelling at me “Hey! what do you think you’re doing?!” We exchanged a few words which basically ended with him asking me if I want to be on TV. I of course said yes where in he instructed me to go stand by a guy who was halfway down the block and pretend we are having a conversation.

I did it but the novelty wore off rather quickly as we had to stand there forever until they got the shot.

Subsequently I had to watch an entire season of that god awful show “Renegade” just so I could witness my two seconds of fame.
