Monday, January 27, 2003 just may have been the best birthday of my life. I spent the evening in Memorial Coliseum for the ticket lottery to see Florida play UK at Rupp Arena next Tuesday, and I (and my buddies) managed to get tickets for the “Erupption Zone”, so I may end up on ESPN! I love my life right now!
(Sorry, just had to share. Return to whatever you were doing.)
From the thread title I thought that you were getting all excited about some sort of soccer match, but now I have deduced that you are talking about college basketball. I am relieved. The idea that anyone would get excited over a soccer match is alarming.
Sorry, wrong again. The University of Kentucky offers both women’s and men’s soccer (they aren’t too bad, either!)
Now, as for a football team, the jury’s still out as to whether they actually count (caution: may contain football-like substance.)
Anyway, this may be one of the top college basketball games of the season, as both teams are in the top 10 and SEC games in February are notorious for being barn-burners.
Not sure when the lottery got moved, but this one was fun. The doors were supposed to close at 9:15, but at 9:45 the lobby at Memorial was still full of people. When they made the announcement that there were more people then tickets, there was a mass boo that could have started a small earthquake.
The funny thing was, they announced the first 25 or 30 groups, and people whose numbers weren’t called started leaving, and then 15 minutes later they announced about 15 or 20 more groups, so some people would have had a shot at getting some tickets.
My group was 24th, and amazingly there were still tickets for the risers in the student section (which is misplaced, since the visitors play towards it during the 1st half.)
As for the soccer thing, hey, whatever. Some people can’t believe we have a hockey team.
