I'm gonna be a daddy!

…well sort of.

I’m taking a child development class. For this class I have to take one of those plastic babydolls that cry home for the weekend (this weekend). Anyone have any suggestions for names. This poor thing doesn’t even have a mommy! Anyone wanna be the mom? Why do I have the feeling this weekend is going to suck big time?

Hmmm…I just got done reading some ancient Celtic literature…Whaddya think of the name “Derdriu” (DEER-dree)?

And no, thanks, I’m too young & irresponsible to be a mommy.

You’re getting a Baby Think It Over? I love those things! I had one over Thanksgiving break my sophomore year in high school (also for a child development class), and I was reluctant to give it back at the end because I felt as if I had bonded with the damn thing.[sub]I know, that’s really sad. Stupid maternal instincts[/sub] I guess 2am feedings will do that to you.

Actually its called a Ready-or-not tot…not actually sure if I’m getting a girl or boy yet, so a list of possible boy and girl names would be nice.

I had to do that once for a Home economics class…Yes, my week with the little bastard (literally) sucked…I almost got kicked out of my Calculus II college class, and people kept thinking it was my real son!

I named my doll Inferno…if it was a girl, the name would have been Demona. You can tell how much I wanted that homework. The good news is that after that horrible week, and all the teasings that I would be a bad mom, I got just 1 child abuse record (for letting the doll cry more than two minutes without attention), and one mistreatment (for letting it cry more than one minute). Every person that teased me got a worse mark than mine.

Still no takers for the position of being a mommy…guess my baby will be a basturd :frowning:

Can I be the absentee mom?? Yep, took off right after it was born…
I’ve always thought Serafina Pekkala was the coolest name any female could aspire to. A guy could be Michael Angelo (I have a friend with that actual name :)). Or you could name a girl Arwen or a boy Fingolfin, or what have you. LOTR and the Silmarillion have lotsa kewl names.

Super Gnat, don’t spoil the cool names in the LOTR books for me, as I just got them for my birthday.

Xan, I’m good with kids, but I’m not too sure I could be the mom of your baby. As for names, I guess it depends on what you like. But here is my version of your list (haha):

Boys

Hope that helps.

Something that works for both boys and girls:

Phosphofructokinase.

Imagine all the different nicknames that can come out of that.
Phosphy, Fructo, PFK, Phofru…the mind boggles at the possibilities.

Just call them Inferno and Demona, they will make your life hell for the weekend.

Gopher - that’s brilliant! Go biochem humour!
