Three weeks ago, I got a call from a publisher of roleplaying adventures. They liked a synopsis I sent them and wanted to see a 20,000-word sample of the adventure. I sent the final draft of the sample in today and they read it, liked it, and they want a 90,000-word draft by the end of June. So now I have a contract to mail in and an adventure to write! This will be my first piece of published fiction, assuming a smaller adventure I wrote for another company never gets published, and it’ll be in print.
Congratulations. Please explain what a “roleplaying adventure” is.
Congrats! I’m also unsure on the concept. Given the word count you mentioned, I take it this isn’t one of those “Choose Your Own Adventure”-type books I loved as a kid…
…Not that there’s anything wrong with those.
Can you tell us more about your book?
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Congradulations!
Er, that’s all.
Not only do I not know you but I dont know what a roleplay adventure is
But still…
Very Well done
:somesortofcongratulatingsmiley:
Congrats.
Two more things:
- Lemme know the name of the book, I wanna check it out
- Is this gonna be like one of those Fighting Fantasy books? I liked those things, just never managed to finish one…
I thought the Idea of Fantasy books WAS to be unfinishable no matter how much you lked them
Thanks, all! A roleplaying adventure is the story used in a Dungeons and Dragons game. The gamemaster (the one who directs the story) can make up her own or buy one from a company.
Thats pretty smart
Im writing a very disillusioned novel about the character that is Gnome
When I have been on here for a while longer you’ll begin to understand
Hey Deadlyaccurate! Glad to hear you made it
OK, so tell us about it. Assuming such falls within the AUP. I dare say we two aren’t the only roleplayers here.
Assuming it’s for D&D is it low level, high level, epic or what? I’m assuming it’s something on the order of GDQ or The Night Below, or is it a campaign setting a la Dragonlance?
It’s a generic D&D setting adventure for characters of about 8th level (could change in playtesting.)
Deadly Accurate: You didn’t mention anything about money. Are they going to pay you for your talent? Don’t give away your work for someone else to make a profit. And good luck to you!
Oh, absolutely, Peanuthead. I haven’t given away my writing work for several years now.
WooHoo! Congratulations! Good luck with it.
w00t!
Congrats!
I have no idea what the genre is really about, but anytime someone acheives a life’s dream, I am always happy for them.
