I’d love to get Penguin’s annotated collection of the later works of H.P. Lovecraft, from the reality where he lived ten more years, but had that final breakdown after the war.
A lot of really chilling stuff up to that point, I understand, though some of the wartime work can be a bit hard to stomach—not just for the un-“PC” elements, which are bad enough, but for the increasing amounts of sheer frothing, sobbing insanity creeping into the work.
