I have a new toy! I don’t usually shop Wally World, but it was the only local place where I could look for an mp3 player for Mr. S for our upcoming trip. And there it was, the 8-GB iPod touch I’ve been drooling over, on sale. I caved. He’ll be perfectly happy with my old 1-GB Sandisk.
Damn, it’s hard typing like this! But now I can carry the Internet around in my purse.
Urgh. Make that:
postin on ur bordz
Stupid spelling checker (apparently). (Now I’m on the desktop – much easier typing!)
I liked the absurdity of “birds” better.
I’ve got both a Touch and an iPhone (comes with the blogger territory), and yes, it’s a bit of a pain to type on at first, but you kinda get used to the lack of tactile feedback and the behaviour of auto-correct eventually. If you have access to a lot of WiFi hotspots, the Touch will do great at mobile surfing. Or even at home if you’re lounging and can’t be arsed to get up and sit at the computer.
Lotsa cool stuff in the App Store too, a lot of it free, to boot. Did you get the first-generation Touch or the second generation? (The newest one has the volume controls on the side and slightly rounded back).
First-generation, apparently. This is a total toy – the 1-GB music storage was plenty for me, really, and I don’t give a crap about most of the bells and whistles. And I’m not actually out and about very often in situations where I’m sitting around killing time or it’s essential that I check my e-mail (no commute, mostly a homebody; and when I’m away from home, I usually prefer to be disconnected). But once in a while it would be nice to hop on the Internet quick to get a map, check for an expected e-mail, or whatever, without having to haul a laptop around. (And I SURE can’t justify a Blackberry!)
