I'm Looking for More Music That Rocks Like This...

Here are a few songs I love, but I’m having trouble finding more music like this.

The Bronx - History’s Stranglers

Butthole Surfers - The Lord Is a Monkey

The Godfathers - Birth, School, Work, Death

White Zombie - I’m Your Boogeyman (Skip to 0:50 to avoid the intro crap)

I just love that kind of crunchy guitar stuff. I would have linked to the Revolting Cocks’ “Crackin’ Up” song, one of my favorites, but apparently the copyright police have pulled it off of Youtube. You can still see the Beavis & Butthead take on it from their show, but that’s it.

So, I’m hoping some of you guys/girls out there can find more along the lines of this stuff. I did have a brief flirtation with the Mars Volta band a few weeks ago, but their schtick went dry with me after a little while.

Thanks in advance…

Is this something you are looking for?

Queen-Sheer Heart attack

or this?

Queen-Stone Cold Crazy

Queen-Tie Your Mother Down

I don’t really see what the songs in the OP have in common except in the most general terms, so I’m just going to throw some stuff out and see if any of it sticks.

White Zombie, More Human than Human
Orange Goblin, Scorpionica
Queens of the Stone Age, No One Knows
Candlemass, Solitude
Ministry, Jesus Built my Hot Rod
Refused, Summerholidays Vs Punkroutine
Motörhead, Killed by Death
Falconer, The Clarion Call
Týr, The Rune
Cradle of Filth, Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids

Am I in the right neighborhood?

That’s all good stuff… and funny, because I’d honestly never heard those Queen songs before, to the best of my recollection. The first and second songs you posted rock pretty hard. I guess that’s what I get for thinking the whole Queen catalog was what was on my “Best of Queen” cd that I’ve owned for 15 years now!

I’ve got a lot of the White Zombie and QotSA in my collection, and I love them. Ministry, too. I’ve seen Ministry live twice, on their Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste Tour, and whatever was the one after that. I’ve even performed live on stage opening for Dessau, and Paul Barker (the bass player for Ministry and Revolting Cocks) was on stage for a song with us, and I got to hook up some of their stuff before the show with him!!!. Also, my guitar teacher’s wife went to school with the girl who played bass for White Zombie, so that’s cool, too.

As for the other songs you posted, I loved the Orange Goblin, Motorhead (I’m not good with the umlauts, sorry), and the Cradle of Filth was really nice. I got into that one because it felt like there was something raw about it.

Tyr and Falconer both seem a little overproduced or summat. There’s something Satriani-ish about the guitar work, but it’s in the right neighborhood.

I realize those songs I’d posted were all across the board genre-wise, but I can’t pigeonhole my taste any better than what I really like. I can put on The Beatles’ Helter Skelter and rock my brains out, too.

I was hoping I’d have a little better response. Are there any more I might try? I’m head to iTunes right now to find some more of the bands I’ve responded to here, so thanks already for what you’ve put on here!

How about CIV, “Can’t Wait One Minute More”?
