For a Xmas gift. Ideally, I’d like something that can stand up to the elements and won’t snag on anything and tear.

I’d call a local VFW. When my father died 40 years ago, the VFW gave my mom a flag. That thing is uber-heavyduty.

Check with your congressman. You may be able to buy a flag that actually flew over the White House. Now that would be a cool gift!
