At my best friend’s birthday party in October last year, I met a very special person. I was instantly attracted to her, I could tell she had some attraction in – or tolerance for – me, so I used her as my helper in a really cool magic trick. We exchanged email numbers, and set up a “just friends” date the following week. Over the next couple of weeks, we emailed each other daily, we talked a lot, went to parties and movies together and had a ball.
Although our emails started on just a friendly note, in time they progressed to “To the most beautiful woman in the world” and “To my prince.” We wrote good night and good morning emails daily. Then, in December, we started going out seriously. We fought a bit, but mostly it’s just been the most fantastic time I’ve had in my 40+ years.
We’ve talked about starting a family and while I was married before, neither one of us has had kids.
We knew fairly soon that we were going to get married. After thinking it over, we decided to do this sooner than later so we went and registered our marriage last Friday. We’ll have a party for our friends in May, and a honeymoon in Bali. Her family will come up from Taiwan.
She doesn’t speak English, and I don’t speak Chinese or Taiwanese, so we communicate in Japanese. It looks like we’ll be staying in Japan for a while.
This is the happiest time in my life.
