I'm No Fool, I Go To School

It’s been a rough year. I got laid off from my job of 15 years as a flexo printer earlier this year. Found a job with a company which was supposed to get a flexo rig in but that fell through. They were going to train me on offset, but then their sales dried up and I got laid off there as well. Back on unemployment.

So, since printing jobs have pretty much dried up around here and Im not in a position to up and move, I decided it’s time to make a change. So, for the first time in over 20 years, I’m headed back to college to go for my certificate in Information Technology.

It’s a little worrisome. I’ve never been the best student. And there’s the question of whether I’ll still be able to find an entry-level job at my age. But I’m not one to sit around and wait for my unemployment to run out either. So, someone pack me a lunch … off we go!

Woohoo! Good luck in your new adventure.

Unlike Lou Grant, I admire spunk. You’ll do fine. Going back to school is gonna look great on your resume.

You should consider writing about the experience. I imagine a lot of people would be interested.

Sounds like a great plan to me. Don’t expect jourself to be the same student this time around. There’s nothing like growing up to make you a better student.

And yes, you should write about the experience.

Good luck!
