Welcome, welcome!

You know, “Be my guest” sounds a lot better that “Be my member”.
Just sayin’.
I’m still new to the board, and I’ve tried to look for information on the difference between a “guest” and a “member,” but haven’t been able to figure it out. Perhaps someone can enlighten me?
Congratulations, Leo!
Only members get to see that information.
I guess I’ll never know, then. Is it something I shouldn’t’ve asked about? A faux pas? If so, I’m sorry.
I was a guest for a long time until good friend Quasimodem gifted me a membership.
The benefits are numerous and vast. I can’t even begin to describe them. The first time I logged in as a member, and saw what I could do and what was offered to me… it was beyond amazing. Better than any other internet experience I have ever had or will ever have. It will blow your mind the first time you do it.
Was it as good for you Leo as it was for me?!
So, if I understand, members get more privileges than guests, and someone has to give you a membership as a gift in order to receive one. Okay, thanks. I understand now.
That sounds disturbingly like what I have heard about the “Bridge to Total Freedom”. How did it feel to clear OT level III? Will you ever look at Hawaii the same way?
Oh no, you can order your own membership. At the top of the page, in the blue taskbar, click “user cp” on the left side. On the next page, also on the left side there is a number of options. Under misc. there is a tab marked “paid subscriptions”. Go from there.
I would be a guest of the board for a while before paying for membership. This place has a unique atmosphere that’s not for everyone. Best to make sure its a good fit before paying the hamsters to do their thing. However, now that I am a member I will make every attempt to keep my membership current.
Thanks! Like I said, I’m still new here, and I don’t know too much about the board yet. For what it’s worth, I’m enjoying the board.
Take every pleasurable feeling you have ever had. Sex, love, whatever. Consolidate those feelings into one super incredible feeling if ecstatic nirvana. Take that feeling and crank it up to 11.
That’s what being a SDMB member feels like.
As far level III goes, I’ll be happy to tell you. However, I require some personal and financial information first. I assure you it’s strictly routine, and won’t take but a sec. Can I offer you a soda while we do the paperwork?
Will I need to bring a pair of empty soup cans?
I’m guessing you can buy your own membership…and that the forum would suddenly be in color!
The day I bought my membership, I admit it: I cried just a little, knowing I would never experience that first time again. Since then it’s been a state of continuous, giddy ecstasy.
At least, it was until I started wondering what it felt like to be a Moderator.
[del]Bribes[/del] Gifts to the admins also produce surprising perks unavailable to general populace. Hookers and blow are used for uniquely positive results.
Every time I think about my First Time as a member, I’m compelled to go drink myself into a stupor because the I know I will never have that feeling again, ever.
Like you, I feel the power of the Mod is great, and I covet it.
‘Surprising’. Yeah, that’s a good way to put it.
Another good way to put it is ‘non-Euclidean’.
Since you’re not a member I can’t tell you about all the extra features you would receive, but here’s a hint: Think about the difference between driving in no frills car with crank windows, no AC, AM only radio, just the basic features, and a little sticker on the back that says Guest, and compare that to a car where the sticker says Member.
ETA: Congrats Leo. They can afford to buy another coffee cup for the mods now.
I know, right? And don’t even get me started on those people called Charter Members…
