I'm no racist but...

What world do you live in, Computer Guru? The mainstream media is not liberal. Until very recently, organizations like CNN and the Washington Post were afraid to report anything that would make the Bush administration look bad. Only now that events have proven Bush and Rumsfeld to be complete morons do they have some courage to tell some of the facts of what is going on over there.

This shows you what lengths the Bush administration are willing to go to to keep themselves looking good. Bush is a tinpot dictator willing to do anything to stay in power.

The fact is, the situation is a lot worse than the media makes it, mostly becuause were are in much more danger of terrorist attacks now than we were before the war. The war itself created tens of millions of more people who now hate us while hardly making a dent in the strength of those who were already plotting against us.

Oh, and all the money that should have been spent making the U.S. safe – it’s all going to Iraq and to the administration’s friends at Halliburton.

I think the war was a bad idea. I think the situation is going to worse before it gets better. I also think that American soldiers are going to carry on being shot while the USA occupies a country that they invaded, they shoot journalists, blow up civilians, kill Iraqi policmen, and leave the infrastructure in tatters.

I agree that what we see on TV and read about is only the tip of the iceberg. I think the media has a responsibility to keep moral up, and if you were on the ground in Iraq you would see a much worse situation.

Certainly, Cheauvan. Welcome to the boards.

The OP was a classic example of racism (or perhaps bigotry) prefaced by the lame “I’m not racist, but…” line. Fortunately, pretty much everyone who has replied to this thread since has jumped on the OP for that reason.

I appreciate your well-reasoned rebuttal to Matchka. For my part, I’m afraid I’ve argued with a few too many people who think like him/her in the recent past. I’ve gotten sick of responding to people who advocate genocide, a la

Unfortunately, in my experience, they very rarely come to see reason.

Yup. I’m poking you with it. Poke poke poke.

I suspect Vine Deloria and any number of other Native Americans would argue that point with you.

Or is it that American atrocities in the past don’t count cause we’re the good guys?
