Be cuz she cud of moved over.
Constitutional right to refuse to move from a seat in a cinema? Jesus Fuck you’re a moron.
No answer, I see.
Yeah, so what. “Pssst. Can you move down one?” “Sure fellow well adjusted human being.”
No need to get snippy because I am right.
Why? There was no reason for her to move over just because someone asked her.
I have to roll my eyes at this, too. “Constitutional”? Which article guarantees that? Or is it an amendment?
You are not right, you simpering dipshit. There is no constitutional right to a seat in a move theatre.
Are you retarded? Seriously.
The OP needs to know the difference between “of” and “have”.
“Would of” makes no sense. “Would have” does.
The fact that the OP willfully goes to a movie in public, and then admonishes people for potentially spreading contagion, is a study in willful ignorance, and shows the actual ignorance of the OP.
Normal people can make room for others to sit. This isn’t a “stand your ground” situation where people need to die for stupid seating issue shit.
WTF people?!
You haven’t read through the thread, have you? We’ve already been there, done that.
True. And, as pointed out, there’s no reason for any of us to even act like civilized people at all. I’m all for going with the Lord of the Flies scenario where we divide ourselves into savage tribes and plot the demise of one another. This is much easier than smiling, offering a helping hand, enjoying our fellow humans, and being courteous.
I know you’re going to look up “Lord of the Flies” now BTW.
Jesus you’re a fucking idiot.
Correction - I looked at that 2003 post again.
I was 20 when I wrote it, not 19. I am 29 now. I was tested, and found to have dyslexia in college. Not a happy day for me. At least my professors tried to help.
Still a decade ago.
I am sure I will now become a liar again. Whatever.
I do apologize for messing up the numbers, it was an honest mistake. At this moment, ten years ago I was 19.
I think I understand now why you think the way you do. You’re an alien from another planet who just can’t grasp how humanity works. Your the Mitt Romney of these forums.
It’s like you guys don’t understand what the word “courtesy” even means. The entire point of something being a courtesy is that you are not an asshole if you refuse. That’s the point. If it weren’t that, it would be a fucking requirement.
It’s called assertiveness. You have the right to refuse any request made of you. That’s why they are requests, not demands. You do not have to let someone tell you what to do. You do not have the right to force people to be courteous to you, and that’s what these people tried to do.
They were spoiled brats, and you are enabling them. You’re part of the reason why people throw fits, as people like you give them what they want. It really is spineless and candyass. I mean, this is the type of thing I had to go to a psychologist to deal with.
It’s weird watching someone be so clueless about how wrong they are. It’s like you aren’t even engaging your brain and are just stuck on the idea that it’s courteous to move when someone asks unless you have a good reason not to. You don’t notice that you disrespect the OP by saying her reasons are wrong, but the person’s reason for wanting to sit there are right. You ignore the fact that these people demonstrated they were jerks, thus confirming that the OP was right not to give them courtesy.
It really is reasonable to think all of you are just spoiled brats who go into theaters and demand people scoot over and throw fits when they don’t. It’s really hard to figure out why you think that type of behavior is acceptable. Sure, you might scoot over when someone asks, which is weird, but fine, I guess. But you take it to the extreme and say that people don’t move over. You think people are entitled to make you scoot over, and, thus, by extension, that you are entitled to make people move for you. That’s odd!
From your behavior, I’d be disinclined to ever move over for you, or do anything because it minorly inconveniences you if I don’t. People who act like you don’t deserve courtesy. Courtesy is not given to jerks.
EDIT: It doesn’t help that you are picking on someone for having dyslexia. You grabbed a post from 2002 just so you could laugh at someone for it, too. Way to make it sound like you’re the one who’s not a jerk, dumbass.
Why did she have to move? Society was not going to collapse just because she stayed put in the seat.
I always thought America was the land of the free, but it seems to me that America is the land of drone attacks and bullies.
And your insults just confirm my point.
It’s the seventh amendment of the constitution, sir.
Don’t insult me, because it hurts your argument when you swear.
Holy hell that took freaking forever and was extremely painful. But I digress.
Just for shits and giggles (and because I was bored out of my mind tonight), I decided to see exactly how this broke down amongst respondents. So, after fighting with the stupid time limit on the search engine, here is what I found…
39 unique responses condemning the original OP in various manners.
6 unique responses that pretty much seemed to view the entire exchange as a wash. Bad behavior on both parties behalf.
54 unique responses at least seeming to support that the original OP did nothing wrong by exercising her right to continue to remain in her seat. Some were adamant, some felt that simply making the request in the first place was rude and others believed that they would accommodate the couple, but see nothing wrong if someone else does not.
[Disclaimer: I did all this from my phone to the best of my ability. I’d swear on a stack of FSMs that it is as correct as I know it to be. If you want to tackle it and prove me otherwise, knock yourself out. I’ve amused myself enough for one day.]
There were other replies to this thread that I didn’t include in the count at all because they were jokes, observations about other issues or admonishments to peripheral participants. The only other thing that I noticed was that, for the most part, the more frequent and vocal commenters were anti-OP. For folks who made only one single post, they were usually supportive of the OP.
Now, I’m sure many will take this as rock solid proof that this just confirms that the majority of the Dope is severely lacking in social skills and awareness. I’m also positive that others will conclude that those people are uncouth. So be it. I have done my public service for the night and am now going to bed. Hopefully, everyone will have more blissful movie viewing in the future. Peace out!

Earlier I suggested that geographic location be queried when this is turned into a poll question. Perhaps the poll should also query party affiliation.
