I’m sure Seadiver is a cool chick just like she said (SDMB is self-selecting that way), but were I her manager I’d not have invited her either. A function that is supposed to be an employee perk and a morale booster doesn’t work that way if contract professionals can also attend.

inertia- my manager did in fact invite me. The reason I could not go is that I was unaware I had to aquire written permission, which I thought was a little silly.
The “cool chick” thing was a joke in reference to the suggestion I show up with a bunch of strippers.
I know that the attendance restrictions are based on very reasonable policies. I understand that I cannot expect the same benefits as employees. However, exceptions are made often at the discretion of individual managers.
At any rate, I just wanted to bitch and moan about it a little- what’s wrong with that?
