I was downtown with the wife and daughter today doing some shopping and generally milling about. We thought we’d swing in and get the daughter a bus pass. There is a place that has an information booth, a public transportation counter and a few other odds and ends in the center of town.
As we were leaving a woman behind the information counter got up and started shouting “excuse me,. EXCUSE ME!”
She darted right over to me.
“Excuse me… Oh my god… Hello.”
“Hi.” I said.
“From back there I thought,. I mean,. you look just like someone.”
I raise an eyebrow at her.
“You look just like that one actor, umm,. of course I can’t remember his name right now. He’s the one that threw the phone at that guy.”
My wife says “Russell Crowe??”
“YES! You look just like him.”
Then she calls to a co-worker “Doesn’t he look just like Russell Crowe??”
This went on for a minute or so before she calmed down.
I was flattered I suppose. Russell Crowe isn’t a bad looking chap. But at the end of it all I think I just wanted to throw a phone at her.
This was the very first response to a message. Is this now going to be SOP for the board from now on that, no matter what the OP was, the obligatory response has to be a “Piss-On-Bush-In-Some-Manner” format?
No, but hopefully it will be SOP for people to not take it too seriously when somebody posts a “Piss-On-Bush-Some-Manner” comment in a jocular way in a MPSIMS thread.
If someone wants me to fly some flags over Iraq I’m willing to do so, with a certificate to go with it stating when and where, and maybe I can get the crew to sign it for you.
In England there used to be people called knocker-uppers who, for a fee, would come around with a long pole to tap on the window and “knock up” the workers. Some large factories and the railways provided the service for their workers.
