I'm not sure I needed to hear this...

Yesterday, I was on my way to pick Aaron up from daycare, when I heard a story on NPR.

It seems that the U.S. government is going to broadcast six hours of American news programming to Iraq by means of Air Force planes circling over Baghdad. This is just until the U.S. government can establish permanent ground-based broadcast facilities. (FTR, Congress has already authorized about $162 million for this. They can’t spend it fast enough, as far as I’m concerned.)

The reason this set off a bad mood is because it’s Airman’s unit that broadcasts this stuff. Hearing this, in conjunction with hearing about the battle groups and units that are leaving now, did not do much good for my stress levels. So, I’m not sure when Airman’s coming home. He knows, but can’t tell anyone. And, in light of these new broadcast plans, I’m sure that’ll change.

So, right now, I’m a bit stressed out about all of this. I miss him a lot, and am having something of a hard time, what with work and taking care of Aaron and managing the household. Airman’s family has been wonderful, and has taken Aaron at times so I can go out and do stuff, but still.

sigh :frowning:

And if anyone’s interested, the story is here. Scroll down a bit; it’s titled “America’s Nightly News Being Shown in Iraq”.

I’m not sure what to say, except that I’m extremely grateful that people like your husband are willing to make the world a free and safer place. I’m sure it’s hard on your family, though. Hang in there!

It must be hard not to interpret this news as a sign that his return will be delayed, but I’m sure it won’t take long to get the broadcasts going on the ground. I’ll bet that this news is not news to Airman’s unit. They must have planned on the need for broadcasts from the air from the beginning and his return date will stay the same (even though you don’t know what it is). All that has changed is that we know about it.

Hang in there {{{{{Robin and Aaron}}}}}. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
