I'm not thinking what you are thinking! OK?

Whig is short for “whiggamore”, a term used to derride the Scots Covenenters, i.e. the Scots who believed that a monarch’s power derived from the people, not from God.

Yup - I should’ve linked to the Guardian article which sais as much, so you’d have to agree with them for once :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn’t the hair the source of all his powers? (It certainly isn’t anywhere else)

It has Christmas words?!

It’s a Christmas Carol so yes it does have Christmas words - The tune is called Tannenbaum

Heee heee, whoooooosh :wally

Like I said I am embracing Borisness.

No no no, Boris would’ve started to sing it, and then forget the words after one-and-a-half lines.

Unless that’s what you’re doing right now

Hmm, I’ve just been reading this and see that TWICE Gorilla Man has been posting exactly what I would have been posting, had I not arrived too late.

btw - perhaps many of you will have seen the Channel 4 spoof ads, but for the beneifts of other non telly-watchers…

“The working class can kiss my Arse,
I’ve got the boss’s job at last…”

I listen to Virgin Radio on line and I heard an advert the other day that made my head spin.

I’m not sure who it was but he said

“My mother was a victim of the Holocaust, so nobody can accuse me of being a racist.”
Ummmm, how are those two mutually exclusive?

Sure he didn’t say “grandmother”? As Michael Howard’s grandmother (the Tory leader) died at Auschwitz. Link

Whoops, you are right, it was grandmother.

Still doesn’t mean nobody can accuse of racism.

Well, quite, its the old “but some of my best friends are black/Indian/Jewish/whatever” defence.

If anyone lives in Salford, just near the trainstation, theres the same poster but with a difference

It says ‘Fuck you you inbred nazi pigs’ The Tories have a long way to go to get back to the good old glory days.

Watched the Tory ad–utter rubbish, but I really liked the song in the background. Anyone know who it’s by?

Marty Webb - It’s called “take that look off your face” and it’s from a Lloyd-Webber musical.

I think you’re right, at least in respect of the majority of people who vote Conservative in Britain.

Equally, most people who vote Labour have long (pre-dating Blair and “New Labour”) been pissed off by being called Socialist.

Well, apart from a few genuine(?)* Socialists like Tony Benn and his vicar on earth Michael Meacher, interviewed in the Guardian.

  • Any doper committed to the war on ignorance must question whether Meacher is a Socialist in more than name when it was revealed in 2001 that he and his wife owned nine properties, when two years earlier he had publicly condemned second home owners for “robbing people of a home”. Mind you, he has got four children, and they may need two homes each. Except, um, that would mean all six of them are “robbing people of a home”.

Hard work being a Socialist these days…
